Dad has had this for a while now, but I don't think I ever posted pictures. In the past, he owned a '68 Coronet, followed by a '69, and then finally a '70 he restored when I was younger...we loved that thing. Sold before moving to DE. Found this latest project on Craigslist in western PA the summer of '09. Apparently a more valuable combo of sorts, a '68 Coronet 440 with the big block 383. Was a good deal to him. Been a back yard project ever since. Lots of rust. Runs well. Replacing panel by panel, including things like the full trunk floor, etc. He and my brother hit Carlisle this past weekend and came back with new fenders, etc. from western states. Interior is also…

With my personal life being such a mess and all I have not had a chance to update you guys on my latest car purchase, car sale & the last chapter in the Oldsmobile Super 88 saga... Here's how I spent my day Friday, May 18th. 7:00am: Super 88 picked up by shipping company. 1:00pm - 7:00pm: Helped Julie move out of her Ex's house... my Cadillac's huge trunk comes in handy. 5:00pm: XP calles me up and talks me into selling him my 1977 Coupe deVille. I end up telling him I have to turn a small profit or I'm keeping the car, two hours later he's got his plates on it and we're bombing up the road to get me my replacement car that I had lined up in Rockport,…

Some of you have followed my new car trades over the past few years: 2001 Alero, 2002 Sentra SE-R, 2004 Grand Prix, 2006 Mariner Premier, 2007 Civic Si, 2008 Sierra WT, 2010 GTI.... The GTI was just too harsh for my taste, so I test drove the '11 Buick Regal, Lacrosse, Acura TSX, and TL. I researched (but did not drive) Avalon, G37, Lexus ES, Lincoln MKZ. Now there's a brand new 2010 Acura TL (Tech Pkg) in the garage. Bold, polarizing styling...yes. But overall, it's not much more dramatic than the '04 Grand Prix. One factor which attracted me to the TL: it feels like a luxurious, refined version of the GP, which was my favorite car of all time. So here we go! I …

Initial pictures of the new vette 2011 Grand Sport Corvette Manual Transmission Dual mode exhaust 2LT trim level It's a work in progress, going to change the headlights to a dark grey (cyber grey), and tint the windows. That chrome GS badge is also going to have to be changed. Taking it to a hpde at a road course near chicago next weekend. This car is amazing; some of GM's finest work. Zora would certainly be proud. The handling and grip is insane, certainly helped by the 325 wide rear tires. The LS3 does not disappoint.

Back in high school, before I even had my drier's license, I worked at Star Market (later bought out by Shaw's) in No. Reading, One day I helped an elderly couple get their groceries in the trunk of their Lincoln TownCar, they frequented the store once in a while and one day they asked me, wile I was again putting their groceries in the cavernous trunk of their (almost new 1993) Lincoln, if I would be interested in doing some landscaping for them. Well that was 1996 an over the next few years I spent many sat. & sun. mornings mowing their lawn, planting trees or laying down bark mulch and a million other things. Our families grew close and …

Considering my Grandpa sold his Silverado to my cousin (who recently turned it over) and sold my Grandma's Cobalt to me... That puts him without a vehicle. The day I bought the Cobalt off of him, he replaced it with a new vehicle after I gave him a ride. He wanted something with AWD/4WD and that was easier to get in and out of than the Cobalt. His purchase:

I just ordered a cam for my 98 Grand Prix, it is supposed to add 40-55hp. I should be getting it in about a week, but wont be able to install it yet, because I'm also going to be buying an intercooler and want to install them both at the same time. I also have to wait until I get the cam install kit. I'll try to take some pictures during the installation. After the cam, intercooler, and 3.0 pulley, I should be close to 370hp. I can't wait Edited to add pictures

Here are a few pictures I took of our Tahoe in Lake Tahoe. The truck doesn't have 4x4, but it did just fine. This one was taken in the parking lot at the beach. The weather was warm and sunny almost the entire week, so we didn't get to ski at all! Here are a couple I took outside the house, when a snow storm hit... the day we were supposed to leave! Enjoy!

I spent a good portion of Saturday afternoon & early evening and all-day yesterday to clean the entire Pontiac G6 (I even checked all the fluids and installed a new air filter). The car looks better than 'showroom' new and I got a lot of compliments from people passing by. I used my dad's driveway & garage yesterday to clean, wash, wax & detail the exterior of the G6, as my dad has a two-car gargae with one door and I have a two car garage with two doors and a wall separating them (it was easier to wax inside in the shade than in the sun at my house or my tight garage space). I didn't get to take too many pictures, but on the way home stopped by one of my …

Picked her up this morning for $600 off two dorky yuppie brothers in Bow, NH. Runs, drives, shifts, and stops. Incredibly solid (have the original Florida title from 1970) except for a little bubbling at the bottoms of the front fenders. Needs cosmetic love, but is mechanically awesome. Goes down the road straight, smooth, and quiet as a Cadillac should. Has a 2 year-old rebuilt transmission with a 50,000 mile warranty that is transferrable to me. It's gonna be me and the girl's backup car/summer beater. I'm glad to have picked it up; I've been having withdrawals since I traded Sixty8 the Banana for my Suburban, but now I once again have a driver!

As seen in my other "Miles? Yes." thread here: http://www.cheersand...9201-miles-yes/ I finally got around to snapping better shots of my 200k (not yet...going to be a momentous time) 1996 Subaru Legacy 2.5GT, I bought a few weeks back. The red really looks great in photos. Has a few scuffs and dings that don't show up until in person, and a typical rust bubble above the one rear wheel I wish wasn't there. Tires are brand new Michelins. Wheels nice but also could be nicer if the clearcoat wasn't clouded so much. Maintained extremely well, and rides beautifully. Vroom vroom. $2100. Still needs to be registered and inspected in DE. Outside cleaned up a little more, ante…

A couple weeks ago, there was a little accident on the farm. One of the guys we have working for harvest sideswiped my dads 04 Silverado with a piece of equipment. Destroyed the whole driver side of the pickup. The insurance company totalled it. Hopefully tomorrow my dad will be picking up a 2008 Silverado LT1. Optioned for the 5.3, the 3.73, and trailering package. Nothing too special, but will be much nicer than his 04 Silv. LS. If he gets it tomorrow I will try to snap a few pics.

Okay... so rememebr how my buddy Sean owed me like $2600+ from our crazy roadtrip to No. Carolina when I sold his 1969 Camaro on eBay? Sept. 2005 Well, I finally tracked down that guy after gettig blown off for a few months. Long story short he's hurting for money and so I decided to take a vehicle of his as partial payment. I was really hoping he'd give me his 1986 Mercedes Benz 560SEC. It's a true pillarless hardtop! Well that did not happen. *DAMN* But I did get a scummy death-trap of a truck. It's a 1988 Chevy Blazer Silverado that's been riden hard and put away wet. I've had some rusted out, squeaky, dented & Carbon-monoxide spewing POS beaters in my day bu…

Only a few of you might remember me, but those who do are likely to remember my Regal. Last February she suffered massive electrical failure and a replacement had to be had immediately. The list of cars we were considering... Dodge Charger Chevy Malibu Nissan Altima I could fit in all three (something of a concern if you remember me...lol), though barely for the Malibu... All new, considering my vehicle history, a warranty was definitely needed. The Altima was ok, but I was not a real fan of it... The answer was coming down to economics... The Charger looked good at the time, 36 month 0% with 1.9% after that, and at the time for the V6 we were looking at …

Last time I came around here, I was driving a 2005 Grand Prix. In Oct 2011, I got a new job which forced me to relocate. I moved from Central New York to my new job site in Maryland, while -- due to an unfortunate technicality -- my wife and children stayed behind. Since I would need a car of my own to get around, my parents and sister were gracious enough to let me "borrow" her 1997 Saturn SL to get around in. I found out in Nov/Dec 2011 that we were expecting a third child. The wife and I agreed that the back seat of the GP wasn't big enough for 3 car seats, so in March 2012 we traded the car for a minivan -- a 2009 Volkswagen Routan. I still have to updat…

It's a 1992. In the near-term future, I will have to sell it. I figure that, with less than 20,000 miles to go to hit the BIG 250,000, I'll keep it that long. Ok, the guidebooks say about $ 1,400. ARE THERE PEOPLE OUT THERE WHO WOULD PAY $ 1,200 to $ 1,400 for a car (in excellent shape, mind you) that has a QUARTER OF A MILLION MILES?

I couldn't keep it on the streets for too long, because it doesn't have a plate or insurance, but this thing is awesome. The exhaust sounds better then I could have imagined. I know in the thread about my '67 Eldorado I said it would be the last old car I got for a long time, but..... ..... there's been an old car sitting down at my father's shop for the past decade. It belongs to a friend of the other owner of the place. It's always sorta been in the way no matter where it was put, and lately it's really been a nuisance because it's been sitting in the end of a building that needs to have a floor poured in it to be used for storage. The possibility of junking the car has come up a few times, but it never happened because its owner wanted to hang onto it. My father's friend told me he was going to the owner's house last Saturday to ask him on…

I posted pics a very long time ago (2005ish), but I think a couple C&G crashes sent that thread into the abyss. So here are some more recent pics of the Lumina. It has some rust, hail damage, and the paint is starting to fade, but she still runs pretty well. It has about 142,000 miles on it now, which means I have put 62,000 miles on it since I bought it for $800 4 1/2 years ago. It's probably going to be with me for another six months, and then I'm looking to replace it with a used, RWD two-door of some type. With the way the economy is now, I've put off plans for a new car purchase until 2010. Anyway, these pics span from over the last year or so.

hey guys, I just put a deposit on a white on tan 1995 Buick Riviera I found on Ebay, I test drove it today and it drove great. It is supercharged and has 64k miles on it. The only flaws I've found on the car so far are the traction control button falls into the dash when I went to test it, also the "R" in the grill is being held on with a ziptie, the maker light in the rear bumper on the left side is out and one bulb in the third stop light is out....otherwise it's damn near mint, save a few scratches....here this is it, check it out....The guy told me he would end the auction but its still posted for some reason so I am a little pissed but anyway here she is... It is with a heavy heart that we must bid farewell to the Grand Marquis. She's been a good car these years, but NE winters have taken their toll and the frame is rotted beyond repair. So what's replacing it? Well I was looking for something inexpensive, and that I'm familiar with, so ideally it was to be another Panther Car, a Corolla/Prizm, or an LH. Pickings were slim, but I had a lead on a Prizm. The price was right, but the seller only responded once then dropped off the face of the earth. The next day an Intrepid 2.7 popped up for $500. Seller said it belonged to his father, it had the front struts and tie rods replaced last year, new radiator, T-stat housing, new …

This car was bought to teach my daughters how to drive in however . . . Marie (named after her first and original owner) was a rare find. In 1984 Grandma Marie's (not mine) 1968 Chevy was rusting out and was in need of many repairs. She drove to the local Chevrolet Dealer with Grandpa to get a new Chevrolet only to find ones that had more luxury features than she wanted to deal with, so she ordered Marie just the way she wanted her; 4-cyl. (Iron Duke), 4 speed manual, Air Conditioning and a rear defroster. Over the next 20 years Marie was driven 259k miles without a single major part replacement, including her clutch plate, engine, starter, steering rack, etc. Her fi…

So as I'm sure many of you know, the Prizm's had a pretty hard life. Kansas heat, Massachusetts winters, being totaled by a moving truck, being hit by a stolen car, and now with over 200,000 miles on it. With all this added to the fact that the car is 16 years old, the paint has seen better days. The roof in particular has become very faded and oxidized. The trunk and rear bumper are as bad, but those are also from another car. Since the spare driver's door for my Intrepid cleaned ups o well with the rubbing compound and waxes I had lying around, I decided to see how they'd work on the Prizm, and hopefully bring some life back into its paint. Because the paint is in rou…

So as I posted in the "how much car can you afford?" thread, the old '95 Olds LSS hit the bucket and I had to find something. Originally I was really leaning towards the Cruze ECO. However, after driving a 2011 Camaro, I couldn't resist upgrading. It's black/black, V6/6-speed manual. Originally I thought I wanted a 1LT with a few options, but there were none within 3 hours of where I live (apparently no one wants V6/manual). So after realizing the 2LT was only about $700 more than the 1LT equipped how I would want it, I went searching for a 2LT with manual transmission. I found one about 75 miles away and contacted the local dealer about it. It was also the only 2LT/man…

It was a nice and cool day today that was a little overcast, so after washing the TA I decided to wax it too. I think it turned out pretty good looking... Here are the rest http://s38.photobucket.com/albums/e145/schuby87/Trans%20Am/

My dad just got a new Forester (tried to get him to buy a Vue but failed) so now I get his 2000 Camry!! Sure it's a Toyota, but it's a decent hand-me-down and a great first car for a 17 year old. I would take any car that didn't cost me anything.

First of all----glad to see Cheers and Gears back! Best car forum! Heres my 06 2.4L SS coupe. The colour is granite blue and you can't get that on US SS Cobalts. My first new car too! No pricey options---just the way I would have ordered it. Keeps the payments lower! Used 1500 GM pionts and $1000 from Car Heaven (GM sponsored program to get old cars off the road) And of course the 5 speed. The 2.4L is a very impressive engine. Smooth with all right right sounds. Makes very good low end torque. Just got over 800kms on it and have been babying it. Just starting to open her up a bit now. The build qaulity and interior are great. And the the 5 speed is the BEST…

So during this "shutdown" on life as we know it, I decided to make use of my time and take some shots of my car since the weather and sun were just right today. And no, I did not vacuum my car before taking these hence my "flaws and all" line lol. Photos are completely unedited and "raw". Keep safe everyone!

Well, I finally traded off my 01 suburban yesterday. It had 187,245 miles on it when I dropped her off at the dealer. I put most of the miles on. My dad put on the first 30000 before I got it. What a great vehicle. That many miles and nothing but a new fuel pump, tires, and oil changes. (oh and a brief problem with the onstar, but it was warrantied) I traded up to a used 03 loaded with everything but DVD with about 80000 miles on it. I got a decent deal on it and I know the guy who owned it before me and he always takes great care of his vehicles. Its not my favorite color, pewter, but whatev. I'm going to add a few things to it hopefully if a come up with the cas…

I promised XP i would throw up some more pics of our old packard when i got the chance so true to my word here they are. we'll start out with the the car itself. 1955 packard clipper constellation, hardtop, emerald green/moonstone paint. powered by the middle road 352 4bbl had a factory automatic transmission that was later removed due to the lines clogging. Interesting story in itself is that instead of them taking the car to the dealership, the dealership sent some guys out with a manual transmission and dropped the auto out and put the manual in the car in my great aunt and uncles drive way. They purchased this car from the Packard dealership in Atlanta G…

Well, my Bonneville was getting oh so dirty. The cloth seats had crumbs in them (a first for this car) the carpet was dirty and had grass shaving, the car had 5 weeks of dirt on it, the tires weren't shiney, and the exhuast tips had 24 weeks of black dirt build up on them. It was time to clean her, sadly the SLE didn't get waxed only washed and detailed. On Saturday afternoon I washed the car for my son as he went to his last homecoming of his high school career with a cute friend of his. And me being ths softy I am washed it for him and then let him drive it! What was I thinking? Anyways I am sure he got the cobs out of it, prolly not a bad thing, but not that I don'…

Well, I got this back in February (February 2nd, to be exact), I posted this on other sites I visit including my sites, but since I wasn't around here, I didn't post here. So here are some photos along with a video clip I have taken the next day I brought my baby home. The sun's glare made it a bit of a challenge to take a good photo, but at least my Samsung camera did a decent job on them, though not perfect. Yep, that's me right there, I am a fat little Asian dude as you can see in the clip. The features it has are: Sunroof, 6CD Changer with Monsoon 9 Speaker audio, Leather, Heated Seats, Sport Package(Fog lights, Dual Ex…

Well, many of you know the vehicles my family owns: 2007 Buick Rendezvous 2006 Chevy Cobalt SS/SC 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix 1990 Chevy Cavalier Coupe Well, we mainly have the Cavalier for insurance and "oh $h!" purposes. However, in order to get it running smoothly in an "oh $h!" instance, we'd have to spend a few hundred on a new door or two, battery, and radiator at the very least. So, seeing that we haven't started it in a few months, and haven't run it in over a year, we're finally getting rid of it. It will be a donation, and a sad one to see go since I've grown up with that car. Also, the Grand Prix will have seen its days with …

...and it's a 1979 Coupe DeVille painted its original "firethorn red" with a white leather interior, powered by a velvety-smooth 425 cubic inch Vee-8. In front of my house Close up That's right, I do in fact HEART vacations, paydays & weekends! Ross calls me up the other day and pitches this crazy idea of strapping down a wreath to the front of the Coupe Deville, since Marica was out for the night and I'm home wiht Sofia I'm like sure, let's do it up. He's almost pleasantly surprised that I'm goign along wiht such a crazy plan. I tell him I'm just surprised I did not get the idea first. I mean C'mon, it's a RED Cadill…

This past Saturday I went to my trusted Buick dealer and purchased a very gently used 2019 LaCrosse with about 4,000 miles. It's an Essence AWD in Red Quartz Metallic and an Ebony interior, with the Bose Centerpoint Surround, Blind Spot Monitoring, Navigation, Lane Keep Assist, Panoramic Sunroof, etc. The dealer held firm on their internet price but the price was honestly really good for an almost-new car. The car is stunning and after driving it, I was sold. It is a damn shame this car is gone from the US. Aside from having the carpeted mats, the dealer gave me ebony Buick all-weather mats. During the test drive I happened to comment I wish it had the sun…

When Marcia's away the Tight Whips Car Club will play. Since this sunday at around noon the Camaro will be on a car trailer headed to Upstate New York I thought that it was only right to have one last earth shakin', tire fryin' burnout spectacular! Me & Speeding Penguin drove to an undisclosed location in New England and took some photos of the Malibu next to the Panther-Camaro. Then the fun began right when the tape started rolling. Make sure to check out the video, it's a quicktime. At one point I think I starved the car of fuel with the constant Gs. Then I flooded it but as you will see it started up fine. We have three videos all togeather but I…

Hello Fellow Cheers and Gears members. So since I became unemployed, while I search for a new job I started to clean up to office of the few piles I had and came across the following: http://www.thedieselpage.com/duramaxconversions.htm I had purchesed my conversion book about 3 or 4 years ago as I was planning to convert my clean 1994 C1500 suburban to diesel. I still dream of having it that way but recently had a interesting idea I wanted to float out to the fellow Gear heads here and get some solid feedback. So here goes the questions / thought and I look forward to your responses. I found a 2004 crewcab 4x4 GMC Duramax with 135,000 miles for 10K. If I was to buy…

::WARNING!! NOT 56K FRIENDLY (SORRY BV):: This afternoon I took out the Buick once more to get some daytime photos...dust really...it was horribly hot and humid today...so it was the best time to not bake. As I mentioned before, the car's really temperamental on cold starts. I had it pulled into the driveway, so I started it and backed out...then it stalled on me while I was crooked and facing up on the hill...probably a funny sight for the couple cars that went by. Basically it took about 10 minutes of sitting there with my foot gently on the gas to warm her up. Once she was warmed up she was fine...probably needs a carburetor rebuild or at least a good tune. I also …

It was a nice day out but at the same time rather warm (85 degrees!). I discovered today that the Intrepid's A/C wasn't very cold. So I bought a couple cans of R134a (one for the Intrepid and one for the Shadow, (because I know it needs it). Took some time but after an hour or two I had both cars blowing out ice cubes. Then I cleaned out the interiors, and finished off with a rinse to the exteriors. They'll need a more formal cleaning inside and out but a rinse couldn't hurt. This is especially true for the Shadow, as the poor thing wasn't washed once all winter...making it look even worse than it is. After I finished I snapped some late afternoon photos while the cars …

I am anxious to see what kind of mpgs this thing gets cruising down the highway! I will let you know when I get back next week!

Well, I finally had enough of that noisy Metro. It ran great but after working on a loud flightline all night I wanted a smooth, comfortable, relatively quiet drive. And I wanted something fun to drive. So, Tammy and I decided to look at a couple of different cars and by accident we found my new daily driver. Its a 2000 Fixed Roof Coupe and has the wonderfully fun 6-speed. We paid $19,400 and I was driving to work for about a week. Now the reason I hate that Chevy dealership. The sales manager was a jerk when negotiating. He was actually yelling by the time it was over. We were honest up from with what we could afford and he acted like he thought we had a lot more t…
