Cadillac
Cadillac, founded in 1902 in Detroit, quickly gained a reputation for precision and innovation, becoming a leader in American luxury vehicles. Acquired by General Motors in 1909, it set standards with iconic models like the Eldorado and DeVille. Though it faced challenges in the modern era, Cadillac has reinvented itself with bold design and a shift toward electric vehicles, now leading GM’s luxury EV efforts with models like the Lyriq and Celestiq.

this is just "super" according to autoweek.com http://www.autoweek.com/apps/pbcs.dll/arti...E/60327014/1065 Super CTS-v for the current CTS's last hurrah. Packing 505HP this makes perfect sense. Especially with the M3 launch coming before the new CTS-V would be out. And if that makes you happy, check out the rumored stats for the next gen CTS-V. something about 600HP?

Seeing as GM has given the obvious green light to the CTS Coupe, what are the chances that this thing becomes a convertible? A retractable hard-top would definitely put it on the list of people looking at Benz CLK's and even SL500's or SC430's. But I do think a retractable hardtop Caddy CTS would render the current XLR osbolete both from a design and price standpoint. Anyway, I do think that if GM really wants to send BMW, Lexus, Audi, and Mercedes back to the drawing boards, they need to cover as many bases as they can with this car, and a retractable hardtop would do just that. CTC, CTC-V, CTC-D(iesel), CTC-H (Hybrid), CTC-R (Roadster Convertible). Here's a Photoshop I …

The Cadillac CTS: The Future of Rock 'n' Roll in Cars By Bill Howard | Link to Original Article @ Technoride I've seen the future of rock 'n' roll in cars—and its name is the 2008 Cadillac CTS. Ditto for the future of classical music, hip-hop, and country. Unless Cadillac screws up royally between now and the car's launch in August, the CTS will have the most versatile audio system ever developed for a motor vehicle. I could tell at today's press briefing, just from sitting in the car—parked in an outdoor courtyard at a fancy New York City restaurant—and tinkering with the center stack. The CTS is Cadillac's small luxury/sport sedan, sent out to do battle with the BM…

Some automakers begin a new design direction with their flagship model (example: Bangled BMW 7-series). Cadillac does not do this. They began their new design evolution with the entry level CTS model. Do you think that Cadillac should have began the new edgy design with a top line model or the entry level car like they did back in 2003 with the CTS (as a 2004 model)?

You already saw a great STS-based rendering from artist and member NOS2006 here on C&G last Monday. Tonight, we're proud to unveil new presentations from two more of our resident artists. Again, using spyshots, our sources, and our imaginations, we've coalesced a multitude of information into three exceptional renderings C&G Staff Member and Artist Ted Krygier (!!!TED!!!) used a well-known spyshot as a foundation to conceptualize his vision of the 2008 CTS, making his very accurate in terms of proportioning. From this, we can gleam the '08 will be very taut and still very edgy, evolving the Art & Science design language in just the right amount. Thin LED e…

We knew that the Cadillac ELR would be driving off into the sunset, but we didn't know when. "I plan to continue admiring it as one of the most beautiful cars on four wheels. But we don't plan further investment" in the coupe, said Cadillac President Johan de Nysschen back in February. This lead many to believe that Cadillac was going to keep the ELR until the end of the 2016 model year. That would not be the case as General Motors quietly stopped production in the same month. “Cadillac ELR production recently concluded. A very small quantity of ELR units remain available at dealers today,” said Cadillac Product Communications Manager David Caldwell in a stat…

Now, we know which models will be getting this engine and the pricing. Test Drive: 2016 Cadillac ATS-V takes on the BMW M3by Horatiu Boeriu When Cadillac unveiled the ATS-V at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show, the automotive world was eager to see how it fares against the new BMW M3 and M4. After all, the ATS-V used the almighty E90/E92 M3 as a benchmark in order to build a sports car that doesn’t have to compromise between driving on the road and on the track. To see how the ATS-V stacks up against the F80 M3 and F82 M4, we headed to Road America race track in Wisconsin, with a pit stop in Milwaukee for some back-roads driving. Before jumping in the car, we spent some time with Cadillac’s folks to learn more about the development of the ATS-V T…

Cadillac has a legitimate contender on its hands with the CTS. The luxury sedan is selling pretty well considering the down market, and it will soon be joined by wagon and coupe variants in the not too distant future. Beyond the CTS, though, Cadillac's car offerings have been less successful. According to The Detroit Bureau, Cadillac is hoping to improve its standing by bookending the CTS with a smaller BMW 3-Series fighter and an all-new flagship. The website quotes Cadillac Marketing Chief Steve Shannon as saying that a sub-CTS is 24-30 months away. Cadillac designers are evidently working on sedan, hatchback, wagon, and convertible variants, although it is unclear wh…

With the new CT4-V and CT5-V, Cadillac has returned to big power:- CT4-V Blackwing gets 474 bhp / 445 lb-ft Twin-Turbo V6 (LF4) CT5-V Blackwing gets 668 bhp / 659 lb-ft Supercharged Pushrod V8 (LT4) This is definitely welcomed news for Cadillac V-Car fans who were completely underwhelmed by last year's CT4-V and CT5-V that boasted a whopping 10~25 hp gain over ordinary CT5 cars and base model Silverado pickups. The return to Pushrod power is encouraging, showing that GM is finally playing to it's architectural strength rather than chasing after other manufacturer's design weaknesses. Still, it begs the question as to why Cadillac (or GM in general…

2008 Cadillac CTS Second Wind: Cadillac improves its entry-level car and proves in the process that the front office has undergone a redesign, too BY DAVE VANDERWERP | Link to Original Article @ Car & Driver Road Tests Amazingly, each new product coming down the GM pipeline these days seems to signal that the once-defining beancounter bureaucracy has finally been replaced by a genuine desire to create top-notch products. Car and Driver have gotten some intriguing information about what Cadillac is looking at for the future with their V-Series and powertrains. We'll start with V-Series. Now as we reported before, Cadillac is planning on adding more V-Series models. Some of those could be higher-performance versions of current models - something akin to Black Series for Mercedes-Benz AMG models. When asked about this, Cadillac's chief engineer David Leone said, “We might have something down the road that is a little bit more aggressive.” A source says a we could see something with this idea in 2017. No hint was given as to what model could be in the cards. Our guess is that it would be th…

We’ve just got the latest spy photos of the up-and-coming Cadillac BRX crossover, and it looks like we were right - the resemblance between this future luxury sport-utility and the recent Provoq concept are uncanny. So how’s this a Caddy and not a Chevy (Equinox)? We’re seeing a character line down the side of the prototype that starts high at the C-pillar, and runs lower as it progresses towards the front fenders. Also notice the window line that’s outlined in chrome; a similar treatment adorns the new CTS‘ window frames as well. Headlamps appear to be stacked in Cadillac’s “new traditional” style; likewise, we can somewhat see a very sharp edge for the taillamps - ano…

Only 150 shops nationwide possess the expertise to repair the CT6 per GM guidelines– in fact, GM won’t even allow uncertified shops to touch the big Caddy, withholding structural measurements and parts from the unapproved. http://www.gminsidenews.com/articles/the-cadillac-ct6-is-irreparable-in-25-states/ As the article mentioned, many shops …

The Cadillac XT4 is an important model for the brand as it will give them a competitor in the lucrative compact luxury crossover class. It might also give one of GM's assembly plants some much needed good news. Bloomberg has learned from sources that General Motors has started producing test versions of the Cadillac XT4 at their Fairfax Assembly plant in Kansas City. This possibly hints that production of the XT4 could take place here. A GM spokesman declined to comment when asked about this. The Fairfax plant has been hit hard by the decline in sales for midsize sedans. Home to the Chevrolet Malibu, the plant has seen the third shift cut last year as Malibu sal…

Cadillac Working On A Convertible? William Maley - Editor/Reporter - CheersandGears.com May 1, 2011 Cadillac's recent track record with convertibles has been abysmal. The Allanté from the late 80's and the recent XLR had high aspirations, but fell flat in sales. Car & Driver is now reporting that Cadillac is working a convertible that will fit between the ATS and CTS. The convertible will use a fabric roof to help with the vehicle's weight. Engine choices for the convertible could range from turbo-4, V6, or V8s. The convertible is expected to come out in late 2013 as a 2014 model. Source: Car & Driver

Cadillac was flying through 2005. The CTS was selling at record numbers even though the car is four model years old, the Escalade was keeping steady and the STS was beating the Seville sales by over 200%. Then October came and took a 7.9% year-over-year gain and turned it into a 4.9% gain. Ward’s Auto World talked to Cadillac’s General Manager Jim Taylor about Cadillac sales worldwide and optimism that Cadillac will gain 5% in 2005 and another 5% in 2006. So how did the CTS fair in its first month on the market? Spectacular. Certainly, some of the sales were of the '07 model, but a good number of them had to be from the '08. Let's compare it to the competition: CTS 2007 Sept 2007 sales: 6416 BMW 3er sedan Sept 2007 sales: 7251 Infiniti G35 sedan Sept 2007 sales: 3841 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Sept 2007 sales: 6052 Acura TL Sept 2007 Sept 2007 sales: 4324 Lexus IS250/350 Sept 2007 sales: 3757 Audi A4/S4/RS4 sedan Sept 2007 sales: 3437 As you can see, the CTS outsold everything but the vaunted BMW 3er sedan, and only missed beating it by 835 units. I'd say there's no doubt the new CTS is a grand slam!

The long-delayed Cadillac Super Cruise system will be arriving as an option for the 2018 CT6 this fall. Described as "the industry’s first true hands-free driving technology for the highway,"(Tesla would argue otherwise) Super Cruise combines the driver assistance features currently on the CT6, along with a driver attention system and LiDAR-based mapping data. Unlike other systems that monitor forces on the steering wheel to see if the driver is paying attention, Super Cruise uses a camera mounted on the steering column to monitor a driver's head position and movement. If it detects the driver has turned their head away from the road, the system will issue an alert to…

What is happening next with it? Will there be a MCE or is a redesign the next thing in store for it? I think it would be great it they put a front end more like the Evoq on it. I think it still fits very well with Cadillac's design language even though its 8 years old. The grill just needs more detailing like the new CTS. Obviously take away the night vision eye as Cadillac no longer offers that (they should though...). Just some thoughts. What does everyone else think would be good for it. . . or does anyone actually have information on it?

It seems with every passing moment, the rumorpile churns more information out on the upcoming Cadillac ATS-V. Case in point is a report from Motor Trend this week which says the ATS-V will utilize the 3.6L Twin-Turbo V6 engine with 425 horsepower under the hood. Even better is that the ATS-V will also come with a a seven-speed manual gearbox option. Now this is very different from our last report in November when it was said that the ATS-V would be packing a turbocharged 3.2L V6, capable of 500 plus horsepower. There is more to Motor Trend's ATS rumor as well. There is plans for a more extreme version of the ATS-V possibly named ATS-V+. The V+ is expected to get a much …

If you were hoping that Cadillac would sprinkle some of the design from the Elmiraj concept for the upcoming CT6 flagship, prepare to be disappointed. GM's vice-president of global design, Ed Welburn, tells Automotive News that the CT6 will not be influenced by the Elmiraj. Instead the CT6 will stick with the art and science design theme found on current Cadillacs. “I think Elmiraj was more of an influence on some other things we’re working on for Cadillac,” said Welburn. “It’ll be different and it will certainly stand out in the portfolio. But you won’t see a real shift in direction.” We'll see if there is a real shift when the CT6 debuts next year at the New York Auto…

Many people see the Cadillac ELR as General Motors' direct competitor to the Tesla Model S, but GM's head of global product development, Mark Reuss says it isn't. “People like to say the ELR is, but it’s really not. It’s a different car, it’s a different price point. It’s way-different technology,” Reuss said. Ruess goes onto say that he isn't sure if the company has a direct competitor to Tesla. So why do many people consider the ELR a competitor to the Model S? Probably from a quote from former GM CEO Dan Akerson back in September. "If you want to compete head-to-head with Tesla, and we ultimately will, you want to do it with a Cadillac,” Source: The Detroit News …

For the longest time, Cadillac has been trying to crack the European market. All of its attempts so far have fallen flat. The brand's latest attempt featuring the ATS and CTS has been shelved for the time being due to financial problems and finding better success in China and U.S. That doesn't mean Cadillac has given up. "Clearly our number one priorities are the US and China, but in the longer term there is a role for Cadillac in Europe," said GM President Dan Ammann. Ammann also was realistic about chances the brand has in Europe. "Is it going to be a high-volume contender in the medium to long term future? Probably not. But is there a role for something other than t…

G. David Felt Staff Writer Alternative Energy - www.CheersandGears.com Cadillac Naming Convention, Time to Show your Marketing Mastery! We have had many threads in many auto lines that always hit upon if the Alpha Numeric naming is the best it can be or not. Some love the german branding of the names, while others hate it. Many have stated it is time to bring back the names to Cadillac. With this, I am bringing to the Cadillac forum this naming thread so that you can lay out YOUR CHOICE of names, how they would be used in the auto line up and for fun add in YOUR MARKETING MESSAGE, or TAG Line! I will start this off with my own listing of how I feel Cadilla…

When the Cadillac CT6 was originally shown in the US back in March, we only saw the standard gasoline models while the plug-in hybrid was shown in Shanghai. Cadillac brought it to the LA Auto Show with some updated information. First, let's review some information about the CT6 Plug-In. The Cadillac CT6 Plug-In uses the same type of liquid cooled batteries found in the Chevrolet Volt. It packs the same number of them as well, 192 cells. Unlike the Volt's T-shape battery configuration, the CT6's are stacked on top of each other directly over the rear axle. Naturally, total battery output also matches the Volt at 18.4 kWh of juice. This is more than double the batte…

Comparison Test Review: 2006 BMW 650i vs. 2006 Cadillac XLR-V vs. 2007 Jaguar XK vs. 2007 Mercedes-Benz SL550 vs. 2006 Porsche 911 Carrera Article They placed the XLR-V last, and though at first I said "Figures ," in that group of cars, the XLR-V simply doesn't cut it. The Caddy isn't a bad car, but in a group of those kind of peers the car needs a better interior and better all-around refinement. The only problem I had with the review is C&D's typically snide attitude towards domestics which they can't seem to get rid of, even when the car is outstanding in its own right. Thoughts?

Click Here Cadillac's evolutionary throwback The 2007 Cadillac DTS is 17 feet long. Yet somehow it is so easy to overlook. When was the last time you noticed one? The full-size 2007 DTS is also the Cadillac that's habitually marginalized by the automotive press as a holdover, old-school Caddy driven only by very old men who smell strongly of medicinal salves or livery-service drivers who smell strongly of Drakkar Noir. Certainly there is some truth to these stereotypes. Assuming it wasn't a taxi, the last car that picked you up at the airport probably was either a Lincoln Town Car or a Cadillac DTS. It was black. And it smelled. And the only privately owned DTS that …

Back in December, we reported that the Cadillac ATS sedan would be no more for the 2019 model year via a General Motors VIN Decoder document. Only the coupe would stick around. Cadillac declined to comment at the time. Yesterday, new evidence to the sedan's departure came to light via GM's fleet order guide. The Truth About Cars tried to get a comment from Cadillac about this new information, but wasn't able to. That changed this morning. “This year will bring forth significant changes to our product portfolio, most notably with the introduction of the all-new XT4 SUV as well as concluding the successful lifecycle of the ATS Sedan in North America. http://www.motortrend.com/features/auto_ne...cadillac_cts_v/ According to Motor Trend, the next CTS-V will have a detuned version of the upcoming Corvette Blue Devil engine that will put out about 600 hp. Don't know how reliable this is, but if it's true, I'm starting to save my pennies. As pointed out, this will beat the pants off of any direct competitor and will even whip some a segment up. What I like most about this (other than the 600-hp part) is that GM used their "internal synergies" to do this at a lower cost. Which, also makes me think that other cars to get versions of this engine are the STS-V and XLR-V. After that, who knows? Maybe the engine will be used f…

I was on a bit of a roadtrip yesterday with a friend, covering 500 kilometers in 8 hours. We visited some of the surrounding lakes and towns to the east of Toronto. On the way back, I dropped in on Oshawa, and to no surprise they had some hot cars by the factory. My camera battery was almost dead, and after these pics it shut of, so they came out looking crappy. I have to say though, the new CTS is AMAZING on the street. Stunning surfaces. Looks like a million bucks! VIDEO:

Cadillac announced today that it is opening the order books for the 2016 CTS-V which will be hitting dealers later this summer. To get your hands on one, be ready to fork over $84,990 (includes a $995 destination charge). While the price may send some of you into shock, the CTS-V still undercuts many of its German rivals. Audi RS7: Starts at $108,900*, $23,910 Difference BMW M5: Starts at $93,600*, $8,610 Difference Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG S 4Matic: Starts at $101,700*, $16,710 Difference (*Note: Prices don't include a destination fee.) “V-Series represents the pinnacle of Cadillac, a brand that now makes drivers’ cars at the highest level. The U.S. Patent and and Trademark Office (USPTO) sometimes provides some clues as to what automakers have possibly in the works. Case in point are a set of drawings depicting a new coupe for Cadillac. General Motors filed the patent for a “vehicle body exterior” on February 14th, 2017. The patent was approved by the USPTO earlier this week. The drawings reveal a fair amount of influence from the Escala. Up front resides a trapezoidal grille and a set of slim headlights. Along the side profile, the design shares the Escala's low-slung roof and creases. The back features a trunk lid with chiseling near the taillights. What could this patent be hinting at? …

That came out of a new ad for the Acadamy of Art University in the February 2006 issue of Automobile magazine. It has some design elements reminicent of current Cadillacs, and it looks to be CTS sized... Is that a clay, scale model for the next CTS? Me? I doubt it. But it grabbed my attention enough to scan it and post it here. (To be honest, it was probably a proposal for a current Cadillac model, but then again...)

William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com November 24, 2013 It was almost two years ago when Cadillac put German automakers on notice when they introduced the ATS sedan at the Detroit Auto Show. The automaker is looking to do a repeat performance of that by introducing the ATS Coupe at next year's Detroit Auto Show according to a new report from Edmunds. Few details are available about the new coupe, but judging from spy shots, we can assume that the ATS coupe will be somewhat similar in design to the CTS coupe. The ATS sedan's powertrain and transmission lineup will likely carry over to the coupe, as will the option of all-wheel drive. Source: Edmunds William…

Ch-Ch-Changes For The CTS In 2012 William Maley - Editor/Reporter - CheersandGears.com April 19, 2011 2012 Cadillac CTS Gallery Cadillac is adding some changes for the 2012 CTS. Exterior wise, the CTS gets a new grill that uses premium finishes to highlight the grill's use of frame and mesh. Also, the Wreath & Crest logo has been tweaked (again) with brighter colors and raised ridges. The big news comes from the 3.6 DI V6 which now gets 318 horsepower and 275 pound-feet of torque; up from 304 horses and 273 lb-ft on the current 3.6. The 3.6 also weighs 20.5 lbs less than the current motor and will still get the current EPA rating of 18 city/27 highwa…

Cadillac Taking Some Lessons From BMW For The ATS William Maley - Editor/Reporter - CheersandGears.com May 16, 2011 Cadillac wants the ATS to succeed badly not only in North America, but worldwide. So they're are studying the big dog in the compact luxury class; the BMW 3-Series. According to Autoblog, GM has brought in various 3-Series models and stripped them down to their bare metal. The reason; to figure out what makes the 3-Series tick and how they can implement it into the ATS. It makes you wonder why didn't they think of this sooner, but no better time is better than the present. Hopefully, GM takes what they learn from tear downs and utilize this …

GM's Cadillac Considers Hybrids for All Its Vehicles Link to Original Article @ Bloomberg | By Greg Bensinger June 26 (Bloomberg) -- General Motors Corp.'s Cadillac luxury-vehicle division is considering hybrid versions of all its models as U.S. gasoline prices stay near $3 a gallon and the brand's sales decline. "Pretty much every program I am looking at going forward has got a hybrid as part of it,'' John Howell, Cadillac's product chief, said today in an interview in New York. He didn't give a time frame for adding the gasoline-electric versions. Cadillac is looking for ways to revive demand after its U.S. sales fell 3.4 percent last year, the first annual decl…

The fate of the Cadillac ELR has been up in the air with no real updates to the model since it was introduced in the 2014 model year, and Cadillac's boss saying there will likely not be a second-generation model. But at least for the time being, Cadillac has introduced some new changes for the 2016 model. No real big changes on the ELR's exterior, only a tweaked grille and wreath-less crest. But the powertrain has seen some big changes. New software upgrades boost power output from 207 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque to 233 horsepower and 373 pound-feet. Cadillac President Johan de Nysschen has a problem with the brand's dealers, specifically how many there are. According to data gathered by Autodata Corp and The Detroit News, Cadillac currently has 928 dealers in the U.S. A large number when compared to competitors in the luxury class such as Audi (281 dealers) and Mercedes-Benz (364). Factor in total sales for year and Cadillac finishes last with each dealer selling an average of 184 vehicles (170,750 vehicles sold for the year). I drove through some car lots this weekend, and whilst driving through the Cadillac lot I noticed something that's rather alarming to me... there were probably 6 CTSs in my dealer's lot (smallish dealer), and not one of them had fog lights. Instead, all of them had the cheesy black plastic inserts. And, we're not talking about the "cheap" sub-$40k CTSs either, all of them were over $40k, and only one was less that $44k. GM is touting a $44k car to take on the world's best sports sedans that has no fog lights. Way to scream "CHEAP" GM! Even your best products have major flaws such as this. Cadillac's infotainment system has been the bane of automotive writers and owners. CUE has been described as being difficult annoying to use, part of this due to the touch-sensitive 'buttons' which doesn't always recognized when pressed. I seem to notice the DTSs on the road. To me, they look particularly good in lighter mettalic colors - silver, ice blue, seafoam green...those types of colors. I am really impressed that, overall, Cadillac has put out good-looking cars for at least 5 years now. The DTS is my favorite by a wide margin. The styling is nicely proportioned and will withstand the test of time. I think that angular styling will always win over bulbuous/rounded styling over the long-haul. It's for that reason that I don't like any of the "rounded" cars (Enclave, Charger, Dodge trucks, etc). Look how Americans still long for the cars with classic angular looks (the Cutlasses of the 70s a…
