I always liked the lines on these trucks, ever since I first saw pics. In fact I drew a business solicitation postcard of this design about 5 or 7 years before : ... I bought this one off eBay in 2003- guy was nice enough to stop a very busy auction for me (IIRC, it had about 15 bids). This was the lead pic on the auction : This is a 1940 Ford COE, or Cab Over Engine, Model 09W. The COE was first built by Ford for the '38 model year. The few years before this, aftermarket builders custom-built Cab Overs, so some sort of demand was apparently there. The purpose of the COE was to get greater cargo capacity in the same length chassis, fo…

I have often remarked on the fact that though I have owned many cars, I have never owned a Corvette or a convertible. Some of you have probably heard me joke that someday I might have to combine the two. Well, about a decade or so ago I left a note in a mailbox at a house where a Corvette convertible had long been siting in the driveway under a tarp. Never heard a word about it. Eventually, the car disappeared and I wondered what became of it. So, a few days ago I get a phone call... It's the owner of the Vette wondering if I might still be interested! We are negotiating.

Well, what to say besides, it's officially mine. I'm not terribly exciting, but still somewhat am for the sake of finally having a car again. Anyways, here's the story. This car was originally purchased by my grandpa for my grandma back in '05. After three years, she passed away last June. She had only put 8000 miles on it. For the last year, my grandpa has been driving it since selling his Silverado. He hasn't really liked it too much. It's too small for him and always complains about hitting his head when gets in and hitting his stomach once he is in. Recently, he's been looking into trading it in. Most dealerships have only offered him around $5500 for it, despite th…

NOS part found on E-bay for $20 Replace the front shocks. Replace the catalytic converter and rebuild the smog equipment Replace the tires. Replace fron…

As the topic says, I bought a Cruze diesel. I guess technically I haven't bought it until I sign the paperwork Thursday but essentially I already bought it! It is going to be strange switching from a Hemi V8 Charger R/T to the Cruze but I've never had a diesel and I thought I would give one a try. I just hope it is like most other diesel vehicles that retains a higher percentage of its value come selling time so I get some of the premium I paid back. Anyway, once I have it and have driven it for a little while I will start a thread with my thoughts and I'll try to keep it updated with gas mileage figures if anybody is interested. I'm not sure where to post the threa…

Some brief history first: My buddy & I used to cruise all over central NJ & eastern PA looking for vintage iron. We were both Pontiac men, but always had an eye for other American iron (Cadillac, Buick, MoPar, independants). When we rolled up on this '59 Buick in Doylestown PA... ...I remember saying 'If it's an Invicta, it's mine'... Series 4600 Invictas used the smaller 123" wheelbase LeSabre chassis with the big car Electra engine; the 'Wildcat' 401 CI. This was the 'performance' series in Buick's catalog, preceded by the '54-58 Century and followed by the '62-70 Wildcats. Always into performance, the Invicta was the most exclusive B-…

gonna pick up the new (and i do mean new) car either late tonight or Friday noon. they gotta bring it back from IOWAY. I love my Aztek, gonna miss it, but it was time. 113,600 or so. Decided not to expend a few thousand on all the things it needed or should have in the next 12 months to ensure it would be worth keeping another 2-3 years. Didn't want to chance the tranny up and giving out since its been temperamental and foreshadowing its demise. And it turns out got a decent amount on trade for it as well. We rode it hard and put it away wet. When i subtracted what I am getting from it for what I paid, it was 12,900 dollars spent for 113,600 +/- miles. I don't t…

PROJECT ACHIEVA It is coming up on 3 months since I bought my 1995 Oldsmobile Achieva S. Here is an update on some of the things I have done in that time. First up, was a complete cleanup of the engine bay. Here is what it looked like on June 4th (2 days after I got it): And here it is August 15th (with new alternator and battery): I spent a few hours every morning cleaning by hand. A labour of love...and not quite finished yet. The hood was the hardest part (in terms of bending to get to all the small spots) I also added some blue LED bulbs for the footwell lights. They add a nice touch complementing the cars colour. I hope to get better ones t…

Still working for and loving Acura in the Philly area, and driving my 2nd or 3rd new TSX demo. Great car. Never something I had considered before, but just the right mix of size, power, refinement, fun and economy. Tech is the best in the biz, too. I don't need a second car of my own, but I WANT one, and if the dollars work, why not. Never hurts to own your own car. Went on vacation in Florida & Georgia mid September, and for a week had a brand new 2012 SRX Performance and was intrigued by GM again. My friend and I loved it and wanted to buy one. I started looking at lease deals, and then cars too, and narrowed down to the SRX, Lacrosse Touring and Regal. SRX awesom…

Upon hearing the news of my employer going bankrupt, I decided to buy a car. Logical, eh? Actually, I had been looking into it before I heard the news. After the fact, I simply wasn't going to let it ruin my fun. The car had been advertised on VWvortex forums since August, listed for $950. The seller purchased it sight-unseen to use for a project. He hasn't seen the car to this day. He asked a friend of his in the area to pick up the car for him and they were planning on doing a complete TDI swap with it. His friend thought the shell was too rough, however, and he put the car back on the market to regain his money. Three months later, and a drop in price to $750, I inqui…

I'm all over the place anymore, and don't post an excessive amount, but having met up with Roger to check out his Fleetwood a few weeks back he did encourage (or just remind... :AH-HA_wink: ) me to get some updates of my G8 posted, because there have been quite a few changes. All in all, as I also intended coming from my leased G6 and then Malibu, both with problems but alas, was something I could play with as much as I saw fit (i.e. own this time) to keep myself interested--the G8 has done that and more for me. About 500 miles short of 10k and 7 months in, still has never been in for anything beyond an initial alignment & XM reflash, an oil change and the recent …

Well, it has finally happened: I'm getting rid of the Cobalt. I can't take the monthly payments anymore while I'm in school, and this seemed like a good alternative... I took a 7 hour round trip over to the west side of Michigan yesterday and picked up a 2004 Dodge Neon R/T. It's got 78,xxx miles on the clock, manual transmission, leather interior, power sunroof, and is Blaze Red Pearlcoat. Here’s my initial review of the car… Unfortunately, on its first trip it only averaged 30.4 MPG (5.1 MPG less than my sister's automatic '08 Pontiac G5 that was the companion car on the trip) and wasn’t as peppy as I had thought it’d be. Given, this was with fuel injector cleaner i…

I've been absent of late because I decided to get another '66 Impala. The other one I have is a joint venture between my Dad and I. Recently he's been driving it more and more.. and I'm never able to get into it.. LOL... so I decided that I would just buy myself one completely for myself. This one is in great condition.. but does have a few scratches in the rear area around the trunk and on the front corner, but nothing dire. I keep telling everyone I'm gonna repaint the whole car Black.. but every one of them says "Why??? Just get the scratches repaired.. the color is nice as FUCK." Yep, I finally got it. Here are the details: It had the Red Tag to mark down the sticker price to $18,726. I bought it under the 72 month time period for the 6.9% financing. I put $3000 down and have a $308 monthly payment. The car had 45 miles on it, then I took a test drive (this is the second time I've looked at this same car). When I picked her up today she had 50 miles on her. It's Rally Yellow with Ebony leather interior. I wanted the yellow interior also, but for the price I couldn't complain. Maybe one day I'll find some yellow suede and fill 'em in. It's got a sunroof and XM radio on it. I'm pretty sure that's all the options, but all I really wanted was a sun…

Guys, I have switched to "the other side". In my garage is a gorgeous 2007 Honda Civic Si sedan. Got it last night. My (trade-in) 2006 Mercury Mariner was fine, but I began craving something sportier, more athletic, and with more personality. Plus, I felt like the Mariner was a little too "feminine" somehow. After much online research and then a few test-drives, I was won-over by the Honda's styling, performance, reputation, resale, and little details like the finely-tuned & engineered controls. Example: the turn signal lever & a/c knob operation is VERY slick & satisfying. The interior ergonomics are perfect for me: I'm barely 5 ft 6 inches tall…

Well, I done did it. Again. I took delivery of my 2011 Ford Fiesta SE hatch this evening after work. Tuxedo Black Metallic with black and blue interior, 5 speed manual transmission. A sweet-driving little pup for sure, quiet and solid. I got a special treat installed, a blue leather-wrapped shift knob from Ford Accessories to match the blue streaks in the upholstery. Sets it off nicely. I really needed to loosen the strings of some of my debt. The house stays in my possession, so the next most expensive proposition is the truck. I chose to let it go, and I am saving over $2000 per year in payments and insurance alone... plus, I owed over $18k on the truck, I shav…

... 1996 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham. There, the suspense is over and the cat is out of the bag. But the deal isn't finalized yet (but will be, most likely, very soon). Well, after racking my brain on what I wanted to do to replace my '07 AURA XE lease coming up in three months, I decided to go used for my next vehicle. And not just any car, mind you, but the largest one Cadillac offered to boot. Here are some pictures I took when I went to see the car on Monday: I do have to take a small loan out to purchase it since being unemployed this summer drained most of the cash I had saved up for a special car purchase (originally the '87 GP LE I posted ab…

Finally got around to dropping the fuel tank in my dad's old Dodge. Per Murphey's law, it was chock full of gas and took forever to drain, but the job is done and the tank out. Along the way I discovered what was causing the car to stall and not restart. Although we suspected that crud in the tank ws causing the problem, the actual cause was a bit of a surprise. Yes, there was a fair amount of sediment in the gas - but the real problem became obvious as I poured the last of the fuel from the tank. An approximately 2"inch square chunk of an old leaf flowed out of the filler neck as I tipped it up! That'll stop the fuel delivery in a hurry. So next will be having the tank…

2018 Chrysler Pacifica Touring L Plus And I am super excited about it. It almost makes me sad that it is my wife's vehicle. For the life of me I have no idea why these things have such a bad reputation amongst the general public. They do everything a CUV does but better, with the possible exception of towing and that even depends on which CUV you are comparing it to. I personally think this thing is kick ass. I just wish GM would rejoin the market and make a stylish minivan. A Buick minivan would be good. Maybe make a little more stylish version of the GL8 they sell in China?

2006 GMC Envoy SLT 4WD (Summit White, Ebony Leather) Friday night, I traded-in the '96 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham and took delivery of this GM Certified '06 GMC Envoy. I gotta to say that while I loved the FWB, and wanted one for many, many years, I'm a truck guy true-and-true and could not be happier now that I'm back in a GMC. After our leasing experience with a 2005 GMC Envoy SLT 4WD (August '05 - June '08), I missed the Envoy the last year & a half and have been searching one out. Remember that '62 Buick Special I mentioned? Yup, she's now my daily driver. The Mercedes sold last Thursday, Saturday morning I picked this little Buick sedan. It has the 198 cu. in. iron-block V6. This GM "intermediate" is almost as much fun as my '68 Camaro was. The true-dual exhausts, oversized carburator & recent rebuild make it quicker than I expected, this thing is quite the little rat-rod. It only cost me half of what I sold the Mercedes for. Not bad at all for a rock-solid, rust free 46 year old GM classic. So now all THREE of our cars are GM again as well as all tri-shields. - 1959 Buick LeSabre 2dr sedan - 1962 Buick Special 4dr sedan…

Not to be outdone by BV's Jetta... It gives me great pride to present my 1995 Oldsmobile Achieva (after a loooong ass search)! Bought yesterday for an as-is price of $850 CAD. Its a 3.1 V6, has power everything, including keyless entry. It has 170,570 Kilometers (105,992 miles). I am her 3rd owner. The first owners were an elderly couple, and had the car untill 2006. The person who sold it to me used it for short trips to work. Since Oct '07, he only drove about 7000 K (4349 miles). It is in pretty good shape, and appears to have been undersprayed (by the first owners). It has some common Achieva problems. The drivers side power window doesn't work, or works in…

So I bought my fourth Buick last night. I waited years to own a Buick after owning dozens of GM cars. My theory was that I was going for broke, my first Buick was going to be a '59 or nothing. Just two months after I brought my '59 LeSabre I had THREE Buicks in my driveway... the second being a '76 LeSabre four door hardtop powered by a 455 (later sold to FlyBrian) and an LT1 powered '94 Roadmaster Estate, now also long sold. Yup... it's 11:00pm, April 4th and we've got a full blown Snow Storm starting. Next morning. Can't sleep, too exicted. I've had the car in my possession for almost 12 hours now. Time to take off those 1959 Dodge wheel skirts. Wheel Skirts are off, but I got some of my DNA on the rear quarter. Ouch! She's a firecracker, managed to cut me pretty good. Yes, I take pictures of everything. Later that day I was running important errands, like... ummm... I nee…

Well with Spring kinda sorta here its time to get down to business. Lots to do for both cars. This thread will serve as a reference for part numbers and information as I get them. For the Prizm: Change the t-stat and do a coolant flush, check hoses: Stant Superstat, Part No. 45758 Felpro Thermostat Gasket, Part No. 35592 Felpro Thermostat Seal, Part No. 35292 Antifreeze New brakes all around: I have no idea when the brakes were done last, but I do know not withing the last 6 years. Front rotors are warped and parking brake shoes barely hold the car in place on an incline. Wagner ThermoQuiet Ceramic Disc Brake Pad Set Part No. QC562 Wagner Brake S…

I cannot explain why I am so drawn to the 78-81 Chevy G-body coupe. I just am. This one weighs 2880 lbs, looks stock, runs 12's with an angry mouse motor and lots of Edelbrock goods.

For a long time now I've wanted to do an interior swap of my car's with that of a 300M's ever since I sat in one and felt just how supple and more comfortable the leather was in it verses the cloth or even leather seats of Intrepids. A couple weeks ago I obtained teh first piece of that goal...a 300M leather armrest. Next I'd like to acquire the backseat since they are harder to come by than the front seats. Plus they are cheaper.

Hey all, my name's Ross, and this fine machine you see here is my 1996 Buick Riviera, also affectionately called The Egg by my family and friends. I was lucky enough to purchase this beautiful car in September of 2004 with just under 115,000 ticks on the clock for $2000 from a lady whose husband had passed away in May of that year. As a result of this loss, she wasn't financially able to keep two cars on the road any longer and opted to keep her husband's vehicle for obvious reasons. It's got a pretty strange choice of options when compared to other Rivieras of this generation. It's non-supercharged, sunroof-delete, and has no memory or heated seats or mirrors, ye…

Woo hoo! My '00 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4x4 hit 100k this morning on the way to work. Had to stop and take pics of the odo at 99,999 and 100,000. First time I've ever put that many miles on a vehicle. Bought it new in July, '00. Been very reliable. Anyone else have any mileage milestones recently? Rob

...my new white beast of one If you followed my other long drawn out thread that went anywhere from taking over the lease on a 2nd G8 GT to buying a Solstice as a second car to leasing a new Outback, I was all over the map. But one thing remained solid. I ALWAYS wanted a big, luxurious truck and after years of my mother driving first an '02 Avalanche and then an '04 Suburban, there were none more than full size GM's that I wanted most. The Avalanche package really spoke to me, costing less than a Tahoe but being SO cool and adaptable, built out of a larger Suburban so killer ride quality and space, and a 5 seater. A BIG one. After shopping various 2wd & 4wd models,…

So after some looking around my brother has decided that he wants the Shadow instead of buying a car. While I'm sure some of you are laughing your asses off, or wondering why we'd bother with some 80's FWD, Unibody, pillared, $h!box...f@#k off. Kidding. Seriously though, the car's been good to us for most of it's time with us. Plus, unlike a "new" car, which can be a good car (like mine) or a never ending sea of misery and problems (BV's Beast), we know everything that's good and bad with it. I've wanted a car to play with for some time now, something I don't have to worry about rushing because someone needs to drive it. I can take my time and do it rig…

Now I just need to sell a 2015 200S. 😀 If anyone knows someone who is interested, let me know! I picked up a 2018 Cadillac CTS Luxury 2.0T a couple of days ago. Here are my initial impressions: The suspension is not as stiff as I have heard other people say. It absorbs the bumps pretty well with no real harsh impacts but it does squirm around quite a bit on the heavily potholed Michigan roads The 2.0T is a bit unrefined but has plenty of power for the application The stop/start occasionally causes the car to shudder on the stop and almost always causes a shudder on the start. It is pretty quite though. Kind of the opposite of the stop/start o…

Couldn't help myself. After my dad so graciously bought the '93 Fleetwood Brougham for my brother and I to use as a "school car" ( ), I fell madly in love with that car and knew I would one day have one of my own. Well, as luck would have it, I stumbled upon a Medium Marblehead Metallic/Light Neutral '95 with 117k on it at a used car lot not far from our house via Autotrader (it was finals week...what else was I supposed to be looking at!?), and went to look at it. In a lot of aspects, it was even nicer than our primo '93, plus had all the best improvements they ever got (LT1 Vette engine, larger mirrors, etc.). Took me a couple weeks to really think it over, but I e…

Two weeks ago, I driving along in downtown Hell (Phoenix) on a pleasant, sunny 115 degree day when I hear a loud SNAP, and my seat lurches backward and to the right ('00 Jeep Grand Cherokee, 101k miles). Got home, studied the situation, realized the driver's seat track was sheared off right below the seat attachment point. All the power functions work fine. Did some research, found it this is a common problem with WJs. Found several write ups about this on jeepforum.com and other forums. Started fiddling with it, managed to unbolt the 4 bolts that held the track. After leaning the seat back, I realized the seat frame (which the track bolts to) is also cracked. …

So... I was originally searching for a Grand Prix GTP Comp-G, as some of you may know. I had my preferred dealership looking for one, but it had been a few weeks. I decided to check in to see how the search was going. Upon pulling in, this red car catches the corner of my eye. It's sitting in the far lot and looks to be new. "Is that a... Legacy? Oh... I think it is. Wait... *catches sight of a hood scoop* Thats a GT!" Closer inspection reveals it is, indeed, a 2.5GT and it is fresh off the truck with the auction stickers still displayed. "This just might do." After some talks confirmed that they still haven't found my car of choice, I automatically ask about the Legacy. …

As most of you know, I'm preparing to put my '95 two-door Tahoe up for sale. I've been steadily knocking little nitpicky things about it off of my list. Today I ordered some clips to properly re-mount the door panels I've had off, and also priced out the parts to make the door hinges right again. I've already rebuilt the top end of the engine, replace the radiator, the front calipers, the power steering pump, and lots of other stuff. In addition, I located and installed new GM front seats, and a stock stereo system that had been on a shelf since nearly new. The exhaust system is new from front to back (including the Cat, O2 sensor, and exhaust manifold gaskets. I've…

Yup... It's time for some pics of the GA. I took them about a month ago. I just washed, waxed, and shined it up before I took them. Now for the basic rundown... It's a Spruce green matallic coupe with the 150hp Quad4 and 5spd. It's stock for the most part except for a few things. Currently, though, the headgaskets leak and it ticks. Nothing too serious as it is runable, just have to check the oil for water quite often and keep a close eye on the gauges. Other than that and the need for a new paint job, it's in excellent condition. It has 118,000 miles. I bought it around New Year's and I paid $1000 for it. The very few mods include: Clarion …

Lease ended on 2018 Pacifica. Apart from looking at the Traverse and Enclave, made the seriously easy decision to re-up on a 2021 Pacifica Limited all wheel drive. Ridiculous incentives made it possible for a great deal, and we totally loved our 2018. Sorry GM but your GM Card top off was not much extra incentive. 20 INCH wheels on a van? Thank you STELLANTIS.

Black 2008 G6 GT Street Edition I know everyone here hates it, but I really liked it and my wife (it's her car) loves it. I did not know that you could add it to the GT models, but apparently you can. It has every option including the 18 inch rims and Stabili-track. We had a black GT next to this GT and it looked so much meaner with the Street Edition stuff it. Screw all you haters, we like it.

In terms of my relatively short time (compared to seasoned veterans like Camino and balthazar) buying, selling, trading, hunting down, working on, and enjoying older vehicles, it has been my experience thusfar that sometimes the best and most interesting things of all are not found; they find you. Such is the case with my current project car: a 1967 Cadillac Fleetwood Eldorado coupe. This is so because at the time at which I came to own the car (October 2006), I was not at all "in the market" for a giant two-door American land yacht to cruise around in, or for any other car for that matter. A 1977 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme I had bought on a whim the previous fall and a…

I'm annoyed that I forgot to turn down the ISO, so they're a bit grainy However I like them enough to post them anyway. Nothing like sunset photos! Yes, I noticed the driver's tire is a little flat...I put air in it afterwards.

Took delivery last evening of a 2007 Saturn AURA XE in Midnight Blue with Tan Cloth. It has the Convenience Package, Preferred Package, Enhanced Convenience Package, and the upgraded 17" Chromed five-spoked Wheelcovers. Since they got this car on trade from Saturn of Marlow Heights in Maryland, there was a tan pinstripe and VIN Etching already on the car. My salesman knew I didn't want any of that, so I wasn't charged for it! I think I actually like the tan double-pinstripe, so I will keep it on for now. And to make things better, the lease price they quoted me Wednesday night turned out to be $16 less per month at delivery! So with the GM Supplier Discount, $750 Satur…

On January 27, finally bit the bullet and traded off the Taurus X (which I would have loved to keep but didn't want to risk the chance of being stuck with a bad trans) and leased a 2015 Chrysler Town and Country. Feel a little sick to my stomach getting a Chrysler and not a GM or Ford, but I pretty much had to go this route. In any case, this is a great trip vehicle and is quite the beast. Having a Chrysler should be interesting. (Note, I went this route even though I had a 2,000 dollar GM card top off offer waiting for me to use, what does that tell you) Was pretty picky about equipment so had to dealer trade, they had to go nearly 300 miles to find the config…

I have had many vehicles in my lifetime, in many types and brands, but I have always had a special feeling for those cars that were built for heavy-duty police work. Depending on who made them and when, there have been several outstanding models and, IMO this is one of them. The 9C1 designation is given to cars produced by Chevrolet for police service, with many special, heavy-duty features that are not even optionally available on the civilian models. That also, is the case here, and the closest civilian version of this car was the Impala SS. averaged 22.4 mpg! Yeah, they don't make'm like this anymore. Too bad! I have been trying for 3 days now to put i…

Well it was D-day for me today as I picked up my newest edition to my fleet, my son and I went to pick it up around 1:00 today and he has been detailing it and waxing it up until now. Well he took it down to the park and shot a few for everyone on C&G, aside of being louder than the 3400 in my 2001 and having tighter steering and firmer ride it is a very similar car. It is sportier though and my son agrees, Monday I have to get new plates for it, I have only put three miles on it. My son can't wait to get a crack at it on the open road, he really likes it way more than the 2001 and frankly so do I. It is amazing what a few small things can do to a good car a great car…

Well after lots of looking around I finally got myself a new car, and what a beauty she is! She has 173k miles on her, which is a little on the high side, but she's been well taken care of. We saw the car posted on Auto Trader through edmunds, and found the auction was nearby. We went there last Wednesday and looks at a lot of cars and drove quite a few. At the end of the day, this one really stood out. Paint job is very good, headlights are crystal clear, the engine runs smooth with no knocking or chirping, the tranny shifts beautifully, and the interior is like new. Carfax showed it to be in the clear, as well. I paid $2,100 for it. I took it to the mechanic to have …

This past Monday I bought a 2007 Silverado 1500 2WD Extended cab. Dark blue/light grey interrior. So far I love it. I am getting used to the way it drives since my '05 had the "Smooth Ride Suspension" on it and this one does not. It also sits higher and I feel like I sit higher in the seat as well. This is also my first vehicle with On Star. I'll post some pics once I take some.

The Enclave proved to be too large.. and wold U believe the salesman actually told her that if she waited just a few months they would be getting in a new mid-size CUV called "Envision." She told him that she was in the mood to buy now.. saw a pearl white Encore AWD, Black/Titanium leather…

Over here I mentioned some big news not related to my vacation, well here it is: I'm now the proud owner of: *drum roll* A 1968 Corvette convertible. My father won it on eBay on my behalf while I was away. It's a project car in boxes, as the owner started the restoration but didn't finish it. All the hard work is done. It just needs new paint, an engine and tranny, and to be put back together. Here's the stats: 1968 Corvette convertible hardtop and softop L68 427 - 400hp M21 4 speed manual originally silver over silver, but changed to dark red over black I plan to put the car back to the original color combo, since I want to find a correct 427 and M21 to put in i…
