Cadillac
Cadillac, founded in 1902 in Detroit, quickly gained a reputation for precision and innovation, becoming a leader in American luxury vehicles. Acquired by General Motors in 1909, it set standards with iconic models like the Eldorado and DeVille. Though it faced challenges in the modern era, Cadillac has reinvented itself with bold design and a shift toward electric vehicles, now leading GM’s luxury EV efforts with models like the Lyriq and Celestiq.

The editorial assault on the GMT-900s has begun. Motor Trend compared the Land Rover LRS, Mercedes GL450 and Escalade and you can bet your dollar which one took last place. Hehehe...its a shame for sure. Oh and a quote from a reader letter "Sure the Tahoe beat the Expedition in a comparison test, but lets see it go against a Sequoia."

Cadillac BLS a bust in Europe? Despite lowering expectations for its Euro-only BLS sedan all the way down to around 7,000 to 10,000 units annually, it appears Cadillac was still a bit too optimistic with the car's chances for success in the old country. The FWD sedan that's based on the Saab 9-3 and built alongside the Swede in the company's Trollhatan factory has sold a little over 400 units after being on sale since April, with the month of May being its first full sales month. Trollhatan has slowed its production of the car down to 30 units a week. When the BLS launched the factory was producing that many cars per day. At this pace GM/Saab is on track to produce only …

William Maley Editor/Reporter - CheersandGears.com January 11, 2012 Following on the heels of introducing the new ATS, Cadillac is thinking about adding a smaller crossover. “We’re looking at options there. I think it would go a little bit more head-to-head with like the X3,” said Kurt McNeil, Cadillac’s vice president of sales. BMW's redesigned X3 has been a hit in the North American market. The new X3 was built with North American consumers in mind, which is the opposite of what Cadillac would have to do in order to profitably expand its portfolio. “The fact that Cadillac is becoming more of a global brand will certainly play a role in that decision,” McNeil said…

Just wondering if anyone else is having - or has heard of this issue. My 2008 CTS - Direct Injection RWD - with the ultraview sunroof is making terrible creaking and groaning noises every time it is driven over any type of change in road elevations, bumps, driveways etc. It is quite the cacophony of noises and is making me irrate every time I drive the thing. My joy of ownership has turned to not wanting to even look at the thing. I know a trip to the dealer should solve this but it is inconvenient. I live in downtown Toronto and there are no Cadillac dealerships downtown anymore so I have to travel 30-40 mins north to drop it off and I haven't found the time yet. Just wo…

William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com September 5, 2013 Cadillac is readying a new ad campaign for the fall that will portray the brand in a new light. AdAge reports that the new campaign will focus on American values, such as anyone can create their own destiny. The main theme of the campaign is "Work Hard. Be Lucky." This is a complete U-Turn from Cadillac's previous ad campaigns which featured the ATS attacking some of the famous roads around the world and Kate Walsh talking about certain models. As AdAge points out, Cadillac's recent campaigns haven't had a coherent theme. Cadillac is keeping quiet on whether the "Work Hard. Be Lucky" will be the tagli…

It seems a bit odd that Cadillac is doing a special edition model for Japan as they don't sell that many vehicles there. But trying to figure out why just seems like an exercise in futility. Let's just talk about the special edition vehicle in question. This is the Cadillac ATS Luxury Sport Edition which features a set of 19-inch V-spoke alloy wheels with a two-tone look. There is also a set of Brembo brakes and a sports suspension that comes as part of this special edition model. Other items of note include cashmere accents for the interior, and the choice of either crystal white or sable black paint. A turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder with 272 horsepower and eight-s…

To keep the long story short, the GM has a new 3.6 liter V6. It's called the LFX. It'll be used in the Camaro, the CTS and everything else that currently use the 3.6 DI V6. It makes 318~323 hp / 275~278 lb-ft. As is desirable for a across the board engine, it runs on 87 Octane with 11.3:1 compression. The question is whether Cadillac should get a "Premium" version of this powerplant. Premium as in "Premium" performance as well as "Premium" fuel. Going to 91 Octane will enable the compression ratio to go up about a point to about 12.3:1 with higher compression pistons, this alone should bump output by about 7~8% which will take you to about 340hp horses. With some minor c…

Cadillac SuperCruise will be available on over 200,000 miles of North American roadways later this year. Cadillac is adding an additional 70,000 miles to the existing 130,000 miles already in the system by the 4th quarter 2019. Cadillac owners will receive an over-the-air update once the system upgrade is completed. On top of the increase in SuperCruise map availability, Cadillac will also make system adjustments to improve performance and enhancements to the Driver Attention system. Last year Cadillac updated the system so that the car would automatically adjust lane centering if a large vehicle was passing close by and also added additional messages in the dri…

I was watching CSI Miami today on OnDemand and they play two '08 CTS ads. The first one's tag line is "You can either be the nail that sticks out.... or you can be the hammer." but the best one goes "In the luxury car game, it no longer about if your car has a 40 gigabyte hard drive, it's not about pop up navigation screens, it's not about ultra-view sunroofs, or Zexxxxx wood trim..... The question is... when you turn your car on... does it return the favor?" Then the hot woman behind the wheel gives a smirk and raises her eyebrow. Run' em everywhere GM

G. Blake Noble Editor/Reporter - CheersandGears.com April 26th, 2012 Yesterday, we reported about OnStar possibly letting word slip about what name GM may apply to the upcoming Holden Commodore-based Chevrolet sports sedan. Apparently, however, OnStar also let the cat out of the bag on another upcoming model from Cadillac. According to this screen capture nabbed yesterday by tech blogger Christopher Price, for a short time OnStar’s 2014 compatibility guide listed the Cadillac ELR. The Cadillac ELR — whose name actually stands for “Electric Long Range” and not “Electric Luxury Roadster” — will more or less be a production version the Volt-based Converj luxury coupe con…

William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com October 8, 2013 Cadillac has been considering adding a large, unibody crossover to their lineup for awhile now. Now it seems that it could wear the Escalade nameplate. "I think there's a lot of equity in Escalade. I'd like to explore the notion of other vehicles that would carry that brand name," said senior vice president of global Cadillac, Bob Ferguson. Ferguson tells Automotive News that he believes there are distinct customers for the SUV and crossover. "There are a number of individuals who just love this vehicle," said Ferguson, but there are others who would say 'I would love something that would give me a diff…

Cadillac sits atop survey for luxury brand satisfaction Thursday, July 05, 2007 | Don Hammonds | Link to Original Article @ Pittsburgh Post-Gazette Cadillac, once known as "The Standard of the World," may want to dust off that old title. When it comes to customer service, a Business Week survey put the company third in a group of 25 "luxury or specialty" brands or companies, including those not in an automotive-related business. When it comes to cars, Cadillac outranked stalwarts such as Lexus and Porsche. Business Week supplemented 2006 data from J.D.Power & Associates with a survey of about 3,000 Business Week readers who were asked to nominate three companies …

Cadillac's Senior Vice President, Bob Ferguson said in a interview with Automotive News last week that the company is considering expanding the ATS lineup. "You've made the investment. You've built a brand within a brand. If you have a winner, you should exploit that and offer variations," said Ferguson. Models under the spotlight include a convertible and wagon. This would give the brand a better chance of competing with the likes of BMW and Mercedes-Benz. The mention of a wagon and convertible signals a change of product plans at Cadillac. Previous reports had the ATS Convertible on hold and that the brand would likely not do a wagon due to the poor sales of the CTS S…

Or to the 2.8L V6 in general? It gets the same fuel economy with less horsepower/torque. Supposedly it's the same size on the outside and costs about the same to make anyway. Which makes me wonder why they use the turbocharged 2.8 in the Saabs and why not just the 3.6. Is it just to say, "look, it's turbocharged!"

Many of you might remember the VERY heated debate that took place between Croc and I back when the Escalade made it's debut in which I argued vehemently against the new 'slade stating that I thought it had lost the "IT" factor. Ok, calm down, stop breakin $h! in your parent's basement, it's going to be ok. I'm not comparing the two cars, I'm simply curious as to what this first generation's legacy will be. I went into the day expecting to love the 3.6 and like the 2.0T simply because it exists. Much to my surprise, when the day was over I found myself wanting more highway pulls in the 2.0T, more chances to heel toe in the twisties, more, more more! Cadillac showed the first images of the coming 2026 Cadillac Vistiq EV today. This vehicle slots above the Lyriq and below the Escalade IQ in Cadillac's EV lineup, effectively taking the ICE-powered Cadillac XT6's spot on the electric side of the lineup. The previous sets of Cadillac XT4 spy shots haven't revealed much aside from the basic shape. But finally, a spy photographer was able to catch a group of them with a fair amount of camouflage removed. We can see the front end has a lot of influence from the Escala concept with a similar grille shape. The front headlights appear to stretch into the front fenders, but don't drop as far down on the fascia. Moving to the side, shares a similar profile to the XT5. The only difference between the two is a lack of window behind the rear doors. Cadillac has the Germans in its sight with the XT5. From Motortrend : Cadillac gets serious: CTS coupe and wagon coming-and an Audi A3-fighter for Europe By Editors of Motor Trend Art By Mark Stehrenberger Cadillac thinks it has a winner on its hands with the new CTS and wants to expand the CTS franchise with coupe and wagon variants. The strategy is similar to that employed by Audi, BMW, and Mercedes-Benz, which all build coupe and wagon variants of their entry-level sedans. The move will make the CTS more appealing to a broader range of buyers, particularly in Europe. So where does that leave the Europe-only Cadillac BLS? Built on the versatile Epsilon architecture, the front-drive BLS lacks the sporty handling and …

Today I saw a white 63-64 Caddy ragtop, looked to be pretty straight and clean as we passed each other in opposite directions. Love those years, my folks had a 64 CDV, white of course. The other one was a head-scratcher: it was a new DTS IIRC (the newest sedan, not the STS or CTS), but it was a convertible. Not a fake one, but a real one. How do I know? It had NO TOP! It was the real deal, a four-door convertible. This was near Naperville, IL, FWIW, I can't remember what Caddy dealer is around there, but it had to be a one-off, right? It was a dark color, maybe a deep red. Thoughts?

Cadillac's newest V-series, the CT4-V and CT5-V, disappointed fans when they debuted on May 30th by being substantially less powerful than their predecessors. The CT4-V gets a 2.7-liter turbo four cylinder producing 320 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque, that's a 130 horsepower deficit compared to the ATS-V. The story for the CT5-V is similar with a 3.0-liter twin-turbo making 355 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque compared to the 640 horsepower of the CTS-V. GM President Mark Reuss called the previous cars "hammer" and that they intimidated customers. Thus, Cadillac responded by extending the V-series badge down to be more accessible to more customers. Infact, it's a new diesel version of the CTS undergoing testing on European soil. Cadillac is aiming to boost its dealership network in China to about 500 stores by 2025, about a 65% increase over the 302 it has in operation today. Cadillac President Steve Carlisle said that Cadillac in China has become a credible alternative to the German luxury brands, and that their average buyer age is 32 years old. Article Quotes: General Motors, aiming to reverse a sales slump for its Cadillac luxury brand, plans to introduce a top-range car and a redesigned SRX utility vehicle next year, an executive said. The car will have rear-wheel drive and arrive in late 2015, Dave Leone, Cadillac’s chief engineer, told reporters in California today ahead of the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. The Detroit-based automaker showed an Elmiraj concept that reflected its vision for such a car at the same event last year. The largest U.S. automaker is counting on an expanded stable of passenger cars and the new SRX, its top-selling model, to lure buyers away from German luxury marques and To…

A lot of talk on web sites have been coming up that the CTS V coupe may make it's way into NHRA Pro Stock with or with out GM's help. The G6 GXP coupes are good till 2013 but many teams are already looking got a new car to move to. Most still want the GM power but have little to chose from for a Coupe body. Reports have the Camaro as a problem for the series as the roof line c pillar will not work with the tubs and needs to be relocated. NHRA is not willing to let them reshape the roof. The cars are not stock but they would like to keep them at least close in the green house area. This is where the CTS V comes in. The C pillar and roof line works well to adapt to the …

One of the most controversial moves during Johan de Nysschen's tenure as Cadillac President was moving the brand's headquarters from Detroit to New York in 2015. Executives at GM explained at the time this would Cadillac to separate from the day-to-day operations of their mainstream brands - Buick, Chevrolet, and GMC. Sources at the time said another reason for the move came down to various GM executive worrying about Cadillac's worldview from Detroit "was too myopic for a brand with global aspirations." But Cadillac will be moving out of their space at 330 Hudson Street in New York City back to Detroit. This was revealed by Cadillac's new president Steve Carlisle in…

Although I usually prefer Cadillacs of the seventies, this unrestored 1965 Calais Coupe looks superb: http://cgi.ebay.com/...=item3f0e0ae7ff To think all this style and class was incorporated into the most "basic" Cadillac offered! This example features power windows (including vent windows), power door locks (with the button being the actual door lock lever high-up on the door), power seat and guide-matic headlamp control. It was in such gorgeous original shape I thought it was a great representation that even the "base" model featured great styling!

LANSING – General Motors Co. celebrated the start of production of the new Cadillac CTS Sport Wagon today with the first vehicle rolling off the line at the Lansing Grand River assembly plant. The Detroit automaker hopes the station wagon will appeal to customers looking for luxury, fuel efficiency and space. William Mack, Cadillac CTS product manager, said the company expects to sell 4,000 to 7,000 of the CTS Sport Wagon each year. At the same time, GM has also launched a revamped version of the SRX luxury crossover, which some analysts say could compete for the same types of customers. Workers celebrated the new vehicle, which adds four models to the line, inclu…

IL Exclusive: Michael Jordan Picks Cadillac XLR-V as First American Car Date posted: 03-21-2006 CHICAGO — Perhaps taking a cue from rapper Snoop Dogg, who buttonholed Dieter Zetsche for a new Chrysler 300C, former Chicago Bulls star Michael Jordan took delivery of one of the first 2006 Cadillac XLR-Vs in the country from none other than Cadillac general manager Jim Taylor. IL has learned that Taylor had his team personally deliver the car to Jordan's home here. In fact, Cadillac drove over an entire semi-truck with three XLR-Vs — representing each of the three exterior colors (Infra Red, Black Raven, Light Platinum) — so that the basketball legend could pick his favor…

Sometimes, you just have to stop, tip your cap, and accept what is awesome. This is one of those times. Better still, you can buy this example of awesomeness and put it in your garage. "It" is a 1978 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz. And it has power T-Tops. Let's repeat that, for those of you who weren't paying attention: POWER T-TOPS. And they work. Picked your jaw off the floor yet? Good. Apparently, only seven prototype cars were built with the ultra-rare, ASC-developed feature. Finished in Colonial Yellow with plush pillow-topped seating, this particular example has 66,775 miles on the clock and a top bid of $5,600 (reserve has not yet been met) as of this writing. Frank…

Family Car Findings: 2007 DTS Performance Sedan Don’t get the idea that Cadillac has forsaken the aging buyers who have made the DeVille/DTS the best-selling full-size sedan in the United States. The comfort-first crowd still gets a smooth and powerful, 276-horsepower, NorthstarV-8 engine; seamless four-speed automatic transmission; long list of available luxury features; convenient controls; quiet, upscale interior; and a suspension calibrated primarily for a comfortable ride. But Cadillac also sees the DTS as a possible choice for a younger, more performance-oriented buyer. For them, it has developed the DTS Performance Sedan. Family Car Gallery --- Ok, show of …

Cadillac's Super Cruise system is getting a major upgrade just in time for the 2021 CT4 and CT5. The system will now be able to automatically change lanes whenever the driver taps or fully engages the turn signal stalk. The vehicle will signal and look for a safe gap before making the maneuver. Information as to which step the system is on is shown to driver in the instrument cluster. “This is our most extensive update we’ve made to Super Cruise since its debut. We have made a number of improvements to make Super Cruise more intuitive, better performing and more accessible for our customers. In addition to the automated lane change functionality, we’ve made imp…

GM has release video and lap times of 7:59 at the ring in their 550 HP beast. To put it into perspective the M3 ran a 8:05 and M5 ran an 8:13 if my report was correct. The Caddy was stock less the roll bar racing seat and required GM safety equipment. It is said to be the lap record for a stock sedan at the Ring. John H and his performance group has done it again. I suspect the ZR-1 will live up the the 7:20 estimates and the new Camaro should be sub 8 Min laps with the sSUpercharged engine and just over 8 Min in the SS Camaro witht he standard 400+ HP engine. We just got the Cobalt SS at 8.22 and HHR SS at 8.44 so GM just keeps em comin.

Why not build new 4VPC,DOHC,VVT,DI heads and intake for the 4.8/5.3/6.0L SB V8 to use as a replacement for the Northstar line? We know the SB V8 can be had with an Aluminum Block and the tooling is allready there. They could use the DOHC version's as a MORE PREMIUM Caddy ect. version of the SB V8's while useing the OHV ones for Chevy/Pontiac ect. They could even use the DOHC ones as EXCLUSIVE GMC/Caddy Engines in the HIGHER END Trucks/SUV's. That way ALL GASOLINE GM V8's could be SB based in the SHORT BLOCK but different in the HEADS/INTAKE ect. I could see a Caddy optional--CTS/standard--STS with a DOHC 4VPC VVT DI 325CI 5.3L 375+HP V8. I could see this as a great challenger to the Aston Martin or AMG coupe. I think a 2 + 2 GT would work much better at Cadillac and not step on the Corvettes toes. They need space and what would do better than slotting the Cadillac into a GT class the Corvette is not in. http://www.burlappcars.com/2012/05/new-cadillac-coupe-coming-up.html Anyone know any more on the Cadillac Glamour Concept? http://www.digitaltrends.com/cars/cadillac-glamour-concept/ Cadillac has put this out …

William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com August 29, 2013 Currently in the Cadillac lineup, there is only one crossover, the SRX. But a new report from Reuters says that lineup will grow to three by 2017. Three automotive supplier sources who know of Cadillac's plans say that a replacement for the midsize SRX will be the first model to arrive around in 2016. A year after, a small and large crossover will bookend the midsize model. Why three crossovers? Cadillac is in the middle of fleshing out its product lineup to better compete with the likes of the German automakers in the U.S. and in China. With the likes of Audi, BMW, and Mercedes-Benz adding crossovers of…

I posted this in here because Cadillac is one of the few GM brands with HUD, but if a moderator thinks it will fit somewhere else better feel free to move it :) Why are we seeing no new GM cars with available Head-Up Display? With the demise of the Park Avenue, LeSabre, and [imminent demise of] Rendezvous, Buick will no longer feature a car with the unique technology. When the Bonneville got axed, that left the Grand Prix being the soul vehicle in that lineup that offers HUD. GM obviously sees the benefit of the technology because its offered or standard on the Corvette and XLR. Are buyers going to have to fork out $50k+ for a vehicle to be offered head-up displ…

In 2009, Cadillac was gearing up to launch the brand in Australia. A small number of dealers had signed up to begin selling a right-hand drive version of CTS. But weeks before the launch, plans were axed. The economic crisis and fluctuations in various currencies were the reasons given. But in the past couple of years, various GM executives have said the brand will be coming to Australia and pictures have surfaced of various Cadillac models in the country. However, head of General Motors International Stefan Jacoby poured a bucket of cold water on this, telling Australian media at the Detroit Auto Show that the time isn't right for Cadillac to enter Australia. …

It has finally happened, the first spy shots of the upcoming 2020 Cadillac CT5 have been released. The first item that jumps out is the hood scoop. No, we don't think this will make it into production as it is likely part of the camouflage to disguise the vehicle. Moving past that, the CT5 takes a fair amount of inspiration from the Escala concept. This is evident along the side where there is a fastback design for the roof and extra rear quarter window. We're expecting an engine lineup similar to the CTS - a turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder, 3.6L V6, and twin-turbo 3.0L V6. The CT5 will replace the ATS, CTS, and XTS when it goes into production in 2019. …

Only a few months after closing it down, Cadillac is bringing back their Book subscription program. Expected to launch in the second quarter, the revised program will be bringing in their dealers to play a key role. "Book 2.0 really works even more closely with our dealer network because we think there's a lot of opportunity as you go forward. We're going to base it off the dealer network," said Cadillac marketing chief Deborah Wahl. "We have to recognize that all of us — from the manufacturers to the dealer networks — we have to evolve our models to keep up with where consumers are." The first phase of the program launch will see a small number of pilot pr…

As Cadillac moves forward with its rebuild of a naming scheme away from alpha-numerics and back to names, it ran into a connedrum. What to do with Escalade. Cadillac has decided that all of their EV names will end with the letters "iq". Last year, we were introduced to the Lyriq and the Celestiq. Other names that Cadillac has registered with the US Patent and Trademark Office are Ascendiq, Optiq, Symboliq, Vistiq, and Lumisiq. This put Cadillac into a pickle with Escalade. Today, Cadillac confirmed that the all-electric version of the Escalade will be called the Escalade IQ. While obviously a departure from the rest of the lineup, adding the suffix trim allow…

ok, I think we all agree that the NG CTS is amazing. in order to reinvigorate the srx and sts till a replacment comes along cadillac should do this. Take the 300 hp 3.6 DI and replace all other v6 optioned cars with it. 6 speed auto o everything, speed the DI northstar to production making about 360-380 hp and toss it i everything with a northstar, and tweak and tune the SC northstar for 500 hp so cadd ycan matc bmws numbers. Give the STS a moderate MCE rewroking and maybe a slight one to the XLR and your fully competitive again till the next NG products come out. What do you guys think?

So.....we've been allocated 10 CTS-V sedans since ordering began. The first three I ordered loaded....specifically with the Recaro seat package. Since the first three, the Recaro seat package has been on hold....... So, 7 out of my 10 CTS-V sedans are equipped with standard CTS leather seats, and no alcantara steering wheel/shifter. To be honest....I have no idea of why the Recaro seat package has been on hold.....GM reps are surprisingly "mum" on the matter. I don't give a f*ck for the reason. Supply? Who knows....but for GM not to have planned ahead to provide adequate supply for what is seen as a "must have" on a vehicle of this caliber is just unacceptable.…

The 2016 Cadillac CTS-V is taking the German opposition with 640 horsepower coming from a supercharged 6.2L V8. But Automobile magazine is reporting that a more powerful version is coming. “The Cold War continues. I don’t know where it stops, but it’s not at 640 hp, that’s for sure,” said a source. Now the current CTS-V outguns the BMW M5 and Mercedes-AMG E63 by about 80 horsepower. But Cadillac believes the V8 is capable of producing more power. We'll be keeping an close eye on this story. An improved version of the 2016 Cadillac ELR plug-in hybrid is in the works, Cadillac spokesman David Caldwell confirmed for Edmunds on Monday. The 2016 ELR is expected to debut in November at the 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show. Changes include "engineering enhancements," Caldwell said. He would not provide details on the changes. Car shoppers should expect to see the revised ELR, which was all-new for the 2014 model year, at dealerships in the first half of next year. The changes are designed to make the ELR more competitive against a growing list of rivals, including the BMW i3, Porsche Panamera SE Hybrid and Tesla Model S. The ELR is a premium version of the Chevrolet V…
