Had a new 07 LTZ for around a month now. Love it. According to my onstar email update I have 5394 miles (how freaking cool). Just wondering what everyone was seeing for the average gas milage. Im in a 4wd LTZ and mine is going from pretty much 13.9-14.2 usually hoovering right at 14.1. Also how about the V4/V8 mode crusing I hardley ever see it kick into v4 mode unless I have the cruise on and I am going down a little hill. Just wondering what every one else is getting no matter LS LT LTZ 2x4 or 4x4. One small rant the NAV system SUCKS, its cool and all and will get you places in most towns but compared to my aviation unit it doesnt even compare. The aviation un…

So I gets a letter in the mail from some settlement claims place in like Butt, Montana telling me about a class action lawsuit against GM for faulty speedometers in their 03-05 m/y 15/25/3500's (Tahoe, Yukon, Silverado, Sierra, Avalanche, Suburban). Says basically the original speedometers will...not may, will go bad at one time or another, either displaying the wrong speed, or no speed at all. My Silverado is an 04, I bought it with 40k on it this past December. In January, the speedo took a dump on me, reading anything from 30-60 miles under. Once, it read 90 while I was stopped! So I took it in, the service guy told me there was a special "program" going on to rep…

The lease is up on my wife's '06 Dodge Caravan SXT and we're looking for replacements. One vehicle we're NOT considering is the '08 Mopar minivans. The things are butt-ugly and they're even larger & heavier than the outgoing models. Yeah, the interiors are pretty nice and they've done some remarkable stuff with ride quality and sound insulation on the new models. But unfortunately, they're now big tubby tanks and have been supersized right up & out of our league. Saw an ad for price-leader "program cars" at a local Chevy dealership so we popped in to have a look. They let us have an '07 Malibu Maxx LT for the weekend to evaluate it. The car has 15,900 miles on i…

Jamie LaReau Automotive News August 25, 2008 - 12:01 am ET High gasoline prices, tougher fuel economy regulations and limited product development funds are forcing Chevrolet to reinvent much of next decade's product line. Gone are plans for a rear-drive Impala. In question are the big, once highly profitable SUVs, which may be replaced with smaller vehicles. Waiting in the wings is the ballyhooed rear-drive Camaro, arriving in February. On the horizon are a redesigned Aveo, the new Cruze economy sedan and the pure-electric Volt. Several years away is a minicar with excellent fuel economy. Aveo: The subcompact will be redesigned for the 2011 model year. …

The battle for Jay Leno's approval has been won. Sure, it's an apples-to-oranges comparison, but Leno recently told Reuters that he's excited about the upcoming Chevy Volt and that, "I think it will be great. I think you'll find that the Volt will be a superior package to the Prius." Leno also said he's in line to give the Volt a test drive when that option becomes available. In other news, Leno recommends bringing a book with you if you're filling up a hydrogen vehicle. Leno has been driving a fuel cell Chevy Equinox for about a year and said that, "The only downside is that it's about a 20 minute wait for a fill-up, so bring a book. But that's only because the infrast…

70 years ago today, the first Corvette debuted at Motorama in New York City, so for the 70th birthday of the Corvette, Chevy unveiled the 2024 Corvette E-Ray, an all-wheel drive hybrid capable of 0-60 in just 2.5 seconds. The E-Ray is billed as an all-season Corvette, so naturally, it is available in a removable roof coupe or hardtop convertible configuration. The eAWD is two separate power trains in one car, naturally aspirated V8 in the rear and electric driving the front, a first for the sports car segment. The small block V-8 produces 495 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque for the rear wheels, while the electric motor up front contributes an additional 160 h…

Inside Line Link Why We Bought It Chevrolet has never really had anything that could challenge the standouts of the economy-car class, the Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla. When Chevrolet finally replaced the aging Cavalier with the 2005 Cobalt, our hopes soared. Now Chevy's import fighter had a more powerful engine, sharper styling and a promise of improved build and materials quality. Naturally, we were curious enough to put one into our long-term fleet. We spec'd out a loaded 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt LT sedan. With leather seats, a moonroof, upgraded audio with XM radio and a rear spoiler, it listed for $20,100. With the employee discount and rebates we got it for $17,82…

Link to AutoBlog The 2009 Corvette ZR1 has arrived, but speculation surrounding the next-generation C7 model and a possible mid-engine variant continue to persist. Bill Visnic from AutoObserver claims that the idea of a mid-engine Vette, either as a variant of the C7 or a replacement of the current front-engine model, is still being discussed by top engineers involved with developing the next iteration of Chevy's iconic sports car. The main argument against the idea of a mid-engine Vette remains the price tag, as costs would drive up the price to above $100,000. While the ZR1 is priming the public for the concept of a $100,000 Corvette, the current base model remains …

Check out this thread in GMINSIDENEWS... http://www.gminsidenews.com/forums/showthread.php?t=28959 Does anyone know about these engines, in terms of HP,TQ, and transmissions to be used behind them? There was mention of a 4.5L V-8 for the fullsizers and a 2.9L V-6 for the Colorado/Canyon, and based on the current DuraMax 6.6 specs I figured the following: Engine..........HP........TQ 6.6L.............360......650....=....54.54 HP/Liter......98.5 TQ/Liter 4.5L.............245......443.........(based on above calculations) 2.9L.............158......285..........(Same as above) These are just estimates....Maybe my math is wrong, but it should be close. I admit it ... I'm not all that enthusiastic about Chevrolet's current lineup, given that Chevrolet is offering FWD versions of what they claim to be the malibu, impala and monte carlo. So, I'm not sure what exactly possessed me to visit Huntley (IL) Chevrolet ... the dealership that showcases a '49 Chevrolet in its showroom ... this past Friday night. I think it was a combination of curiosity, the employee discount's final hours, and that I was itching to get into a showroom again. I test drove a Cobalt during my short time there and was pleasantly surprised/impressed. My eyes also captured a glimpse of an '06 impala. Yes, I felt disdain/di…

Cruze Diesel Has 50 MPG Target On Its Back William Maley - Editor/Reporter - CheersandGears.com August 17, 2011 GM is busy working on getting the Chevrolet Cruze Diesel for its launch in 2013 and some tidbits about the diesel are beginning to come out. Ward's Auto reports that "sources" are saying the Cruze Diesel has a target of 50 MPG on the highway. “If we’re getting 42 (mpg) on the Eco, we’ll do better on the diesel. You could envision 50 mpg,” said one of the sources. And, according to Charlie Klein, GM's director of global mass, energy and aerodynamics, the Cruze diesel will be fuel sipper no matter what transmission is installed. The diesel engi…

A couple of years ago, Chevrolet rolled out the Colorado ZR2 concept. This truck showed what a possible off-road focused model could look like. At the time, Chevrolet said this was only a concept. But some new spy shots show GM is considering putting this model into production. While the front end is camouflaged very well, we can make out certain details such as a new front bumper, tow hooks, and a skid plate. The bumper is an important change as the current one limits how far you can off-road. The suspension has been lifted (an inch or two we're guessing) and there is a set of meaty off-road tires. Engines choices are likely to be the 3.6L V6 and 2.8L Duramax fou…

I keep seeing the new Jetta around. As much as I would not own one, it is much improved. That being said, I cannot help but notice too much Jetta in the new Malibu: overall side profile, greenhouse and door shapes, and trunk height and contours. It really jumps out at me. I think the Malibu will be a hit and I hope so. However, GM needs to stop siphoning some overall design themes (Malibu from Jetta and Enclave from Lexus). That's my humble opinion, anyway. Obviously, I voted yes.

Link to AutoChannel WASHINGTON, Jan 31, 2008; John Crawley writing for Reuters reported that General Motors Corp plans a strong production run for its plug-in Chevy Volt, according to a senior executive on Thursday who also urged Congress to approve tax incentives to help spark demand. Jon Lauckner, GM vice president for global program management, said the automaker is mindful of the current high costs of battery development but expects the per-vehicle price to drop as the technology improves. "As volume scales up, you will move down this curve to see better economics going forward. You can't get hung up on the economics of the first unit or the tenth unit," Lauckner…

Only two shifts had been scheduled for this Saturday, but GM has determined it needs to boost production further. The plant produces about 500 cars a shift. GM Heads Back To The Drawing Board With Chevrolet's Tag Line William Maley - Editor/Reporter - CheersandGears.com September 2, 2011 GM's campaign for Chevrolet, "Chevy Runs Deep" is getting retooled after almost a year of being out. In a report done by Bloomberg, GM found the campaign was bringing in steady sales, but not any increases. “‘Chevy Runs Deep’ has maintained the brand but it hasn’t really moved them in any direction. Ten Vehicles That Don't Belong On BuisnessWeek's 50 Ugliest Cars List Jalopnik, not known for their GM love, pulls apart BusinessWeek's 50 Ugliest Cars list and goes to bat for the El Camino. First of all, lumping the entire series into one big pile is just plain ignorant. Secondly, it's rude. Looking at getting a preowned 2007 Suburban, and I have a question that hopefully some expert/dealer can answer here. There is one available in another city (an LT3), so I am going by the website and the pictures. The pictures show it has a front screen. When I asked the dealer about it having navigation, he was suprised. that it even had a screen. Supposedly it has the front screen in the dash that is a DVD (also has the 2nd row DVD), it has a backup camera, but supposedly no navigation. Was/is that possible? GM Increases Production Of The Volt William Maley - Editor/Reporter - CheersandGears.com May 19, 2011 General Motors has made it official: the Chevrolet Volt will see a production increase. On Wednesday, GM announced they will build 1,000 more Volts for this model year, bringing the total to about 16,000 Volts. GM also announced that production will increase from 45,000 to 60,000 vehicles for 2012 and will begin building the Opel Ampera for the European and Chinese markets. It may seem odd to try and draw customers who would have gone with a Volkswagen diesel to yours in this current climate. But that is what GM is planning to do when the diesel version of the Chevrolet Cruze arrives next year. “There are a lot of diesel intenders and diesel-loyal people who are looking for a brand and vehicles to go after,” said Dan Nicholson, General Motors’ vice president for global propulsion systems to Automotive News. “They tend to be more tech savvy than the average customer. And they won’t stop wishing for a diesel. And we’ll go after those customers.” But one has to wonder how big that group of customers is. Considering a fair amount of …

We’ve told you about the Chevrolet Malibu’s engine lineup; a 2.4L mild hybrid system in the Malibu ECO producing 180 HP and a 2.5L inline-4 producing 190 HP. Now, there’s a third engine coming to the new Malibu. This week, General Motors announced a 2.0L Turbo-4 would be available a year after the Malibu goes on sale. GM hasn’t said anything about the engine, but we can take a guess as to what could lie under the Malibu’s hood. The Buick Regal offers two variations of a 2.0L Turbo; the Regal Turbo with 220 HP and 258 lb-ft of torque and Regal GS with 270 HP and 295 lb-ft of torque. Most likely, the Malibu will get the Regal Turbo’s setup or be somewhere in the middle. T…

By William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com January 19, 2013 The current Chevrolet Malibu has seen mixed reviews and slow sales since it went on sale last year. GM CEO Dan Akerson said in a interview back in December that a mid-cycle refresh would be coming in late 2013. "We are going to do a midcycle enhancement, not dramatic, by this time next year," Akerson said. Akerson said that part of the midcycle refresh would include a revised front fascia. Now we have learned that the Malibu refresh will also address another complaint many people have, back seat room. Automotive News reports that the Malibu refresh will improve on the back seat room from the curren…

http://www.twente-nieuws.nl/UserFiles/Medi...etot_medium.wmv Translation: You've just put some gas in a brand new Corvette Z06 and 200 meters later you're landing on your roof. That happened with a driver on his way to a photoshoot in Berlin, not a photoshoot of himself but of the Corvette . Its a Corvette Z06 with a 7-liter engine that goes from 0 to 100 kilometers an hour (60 mph) in 3.9 seconds. The car costs about 120,000 Euro. It's a miracle nobody has been hurt. The police are investigating the accident.

From GM Media: DETROIT – It’s been approximately six months since Chevrolet’s redesigned Malibu was launched. In that time, it has received critical acclaim – including being named 2008 North American Car of the Year – and numerous recommendations by consumer groups. More importantly, the new Malibu is resonating with customers. In only the first quarter of 2008, market share is up 1.3 points over the same period in ’07. Much of that growth is due to retail sales, which increased 110 percent during the first three months of the year, with three large, import-heavy states showing dramatic growth: * Florida sales are up 91 percent * New York sales are up 13…

William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com July 26, 2012 Ford and Dodge have stepped up to the plate for the NASCAR Nationwide Series, producing the Mustang and Challenger race cars. Now, its Chevrolet's turn at the plate. Today, the bowtie showed off the new 2013 Camaro NASCAR Nationwide Series racecar. The Camaro race car does closely resembles the actual production mode - though it's still a long way from identical. Underneath, the Camaro isn't that much different from the Ford, Dodge and Toyota. “Chevrolet is proud to bring the Camaro to the NASCAR Nationwide Series in 2013. When are they going to stick it in the non Denali trucks? I would buy one tomorrow if i could get a Sierra with the 6sp, 6.2 and a part time 4x4. Come on GM you have it now let me buy it. I read awhile back that the 6.2 would replace the 6.0 but when? Just read that the 6.2 can be purchased in the 2wd Tahoe now.

William Maley Editor/Reporter - CheersandGears.com April 13, 2012 2013 will mark the end of an era for Chevrolet trucks as the Chevrolet Avalanche will bid adieu. Launched in 2002 as a new type of pickup with actual space for five and the ability to carry long loads thanks to a clever midgate design. However, sales of the Avalanche have tumbled down from 90,000 vehicles sold in 2003 to around 20,000 units within the past few years. To mark the end of the road for the Avalanche, Chevrolet will introduce a special trim level known as the Black Diamond. The Black Diamond will body-colored bed surrounds, a unique badge, and added features. LS models will get a rear backu…

By William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com February 11, 2013 Chevrolet has cut the price of the 2013 Malibu as part of an effort to entice consumers to look at it and not competitors such as the Toyota Camry. The base price of the base Malibu LS saw its price drop $345 to $22,805 (including shipping), which undercuts the base Camry’s price by $235. The Malibu 2LT and Eco trims dropped $300, while up to $770 was cut from the LT. "We did it in order to try to generate more potential traffic on the car both on the websites as well as dealers but I can't tell you that January itself was a big change just because of that. It recognizes the competitiveness of the s…

This is a Hypothetical Vehicle which combines most of the Cruze Eco's modifications to a revised power train. The goal is to achieve superior fuel economy to the standard LT / LTZ models, while offering improved performance and retaining the automatic transmission (a quintessential feature to most US consumers). From a performance stand point, this is no Cobalt SS. Rather, it is in the same class as an Acura TSX. The XFS -- standing for Xtra Fuel-economy Sport -- is positioned above the LTZ and comes with all the LTZ's amenities at a $1000 premium over the LTZ. The XFS uses the Cruze ECO as a starting point. Here's what we keep and what we change:- Center Head Rest D…

William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com August 24, 2012 Yesterday, General Motors announced a $220 million investment into two plants in Ohio; Lordstown and Parma. Lordstown has been building the Cruze since 2010, while Parma handles parts for GM vehicles. The investment will be for tooling and equipment to build the next-generation Chevrolet Cruze. "Thanks to northeast Ohio's supportive business climate, we're able to build on a great foundation and steer the Chevrolet Cruze into the next generation. A special thanks goes to Governor John Kasich and his team at Jobs Ohio for their strong leadership and advocacy for GM and our employees," said GM Manufacturin…

Just a thought... GM doesn't have any alternate fuel compact in North America at the moment. Maybe there should be more engines for the Cobalt, just not running gasoline. Diesel: The 1.9L CDTI ECOTEC is readily available in Europe in the Astra. I'm sure with some modifications it'll work in NA in a Cobalt. I think it'll go nicely against the Jetta TDI. E85: The Solstice GXP Drifter uses an E85 2.0L ECOTEC, so I think that means an E85 version of the 2.2L/2.4L engine is possible. Bi-fuel Natural Gas: The Cavalier used to have it with the 2.2L LN2 and ECOTEC. It wasn't carried over to the Cobalt though. Hybrid: Maybe it's coming with the BAS system after the Aura …

Since going on sale in 2014, the Chevrolet Colorado has only seen minor styling tweaks and updates. For eight years the 2.5 liter 4-cylinder and 3.6-liter V6 were the primary engines available with the interesting and fuel-efficient 4-cylinder turbo diesel. 2018 was the best year for this model's run, with Chevy selling 134,842 Colorados, but sales have dropped since then as new and updated entries in the form of the Ford Ranger, Toyota Tacoma, and Nissan Frontier have hit the market. In 2022, the Colorado and its Canyon brother were officially the oldest mid-size trucks on the market. For 2023, Chevrolet has completely redesigned the Colorado with new looks, inter…

First let me say I am simply speculating and posting my thoughts on the issue, and that I have no inside info confirming this, just info/rumors that I have read. By now I'm sure most of us who have followed the 'GMX386' thread know that the NG Malibu has been cancelled and we won't have a new Malibu until Epsilon II is ready. I've been thinking about GM globalizing over the next few years and what that means to future product plans in general, and more importantly for this thread, what that means to the future of Chevrolet cars. First, let's consider the platforms that GM will have at its disposal upon which to base cars on by 2010: Note t…

How much do we know about the 2012 Cruze and Sonic, and when will we find out any information? I'd like to see specs on the Sonic (I'd actually like to drive one, but I don't know when the SOP is) as well as changes to the Cruze. I think I'm going to end up replacing my car at the end of this year and, as much as I'd like a new Mustang, I will most likely have to settle for a less expensive car that is better on gas. These are my options.

A new report from the Wall Street Journal says the Chevrolet Sonic could be no more as early as of the end of this year. According to sources, the decision comes down to consumers veering more towards trucks and utility vehicles, and declining sales. So far in 2018, sales of the Sonic have dropped 21.5 percent. Overall volume has dropped by over two-thirds when compared to the Sonic's best sales of 93,518 units in 2014. This could be more bad news for GM's Orion plant, home to the Chevrolet Sonic and Bolt. The plant already lost production of the Buick Verano in late 2016. The report also notes that Ford will be axing both the Taurus and Fiesta according to sour…

Was driving home from a family wedding and found this in my wifes hometown of 1,500 on the local Chevy dealers lot... It was a 2LT Camaro with an automatic and sunroof, sadly it was missing the polished 19's or the RS package with 20's. The color my wife liked, I said it would get old fast, but it sure was sexy. Still not as sexy as the 2SS I saw at the car show is Milwaukee in Feb. Anyways here are the photos, be sure to enjoy! And tell me what you think!

William Maley Editor/Reporter - CheersandGears.com January 17, 2012 Mark Reuss, GM’s North America President recently dealt some dirt on the next generation Chevrolet Colorado, due out in the U.S. sometime in either 2012 or 2013. Reuss revealed the Colorado’s main target is the Toyota Tacoma. “Tacoma is the volume leader. We know that there’s a buyer for a really good Chevrolet lifestyle sport truck that’s quite different than the Tacoma,” Reuss told Car & Driver. How much different are we talking? Reuss and his colleagues didn’t say. Most likely Reuss brought up the Tacoma in reference to the Colorado being extremely capable in addition to it competing in the …

"GM’s recently revised electric-range claim is 25 to 50 miles, and we ended up in the low to middle of that band. Getting on the nearest highway and commuting with the 80-mph flow of traffic—basically the worst-case scenario—yielded 26 miles; a fairly spirited back-road loop netted 31; and a carefully modulated cruise below 60 mph pushed the figure into the upper 30s." ... "We averaged 35 mpg for our gas-powered miles and saw 33–34 mpg at a steady, near-80-mph cruise—not exactly spectacular compared with today’s hybrids. Then again, no one should buy a Volt if they plan to run it extensively in extended-range mode." ... "using only standard-household 120-volt power, i…

Today, Chevrolet and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) have released the numbers for the 2016 Volt and they are noticeably better than the outgoing model. The EPA rates the Volt at 106 Miles Per Gallon Equivalent (MPGe) combined when operating solely on electricity, and 42 MPG combined when the gas engine is running. To put this into perspective, the current Volt gets 98 MPGe when running on electricity and 39 MPG combined when the gas engine is running. Overall electric range has seen a big jump as well with the 2016 Volt. The EPA says the model will deliver 53 Miles of range on electric power alone. That is a huge increase compared to the 39 Miles of tot…
