Someone brought this up on the "old" C&G......I sat in my first Impala yesterday (LTZ, silver, with ebony leather) and was shocked at the (lack of) quality of the interior materials!!!! Although the black interior looked sharp, the plastic on the dash and lower door panels is a shiny, hard plastic. In fact, the hard plastic is so shiny, it contrasts with the (actually nice) soft plastic on the dash top and tops of the door panels. WHY can't GM get it RIGHT...???? AARRGGGHHH! Now if you were expecting a new style for the Camaro, then you'll be slightly disappointed as the basic shape is the same. Okay, so here's what I'm saying... For the base model V6: 3.6L DOHC with VVT & DI Why? It's perfect. It'll be production-ready by 2008, it'll make enough power to annihilate Ford's most potent V6 up to date (3.6L @ 265 HP/250 TQ), and will offer good enough MPG/emissions to make even Honda buyers go American. Ok I've had this pig of a vehicle for 17 mths now and I can honestly say that i have never hated any vehicle more. I have the top of the line Equinox LT with AWD and have had a myriad of problems with it since new: 1) From time to time for no reason the key will not turn in the ignition unless i play with the steering column for sometimes upwards of 10 mins to get the ignition lock to release. 2) Cheap plastic interior rattles like a ten year old Cavalier 3) AWD system has had a number of issues and repairs under warranty to replace a variety of grinding noises and vibrations. 4) Craptacular transmission that routinely shifts hard or sometimes refuses to shift out…

The Chevrolet Malibu will follow the likes to the Ford Fusion and Chrysler 200 by following them into that great nameplate junkyard in the sky after 2024 according to a report by Automotive News. There is a possibility of an electric successor to the Malibu, but nothing is certain at this point. An electric replacement would fit with GM's timeline to build 20 new EVs by 2023. According to somebody's bible, Consumer Reports, Chevy Volt owners are so in love with their cars, that a full 92% of them would buy another Volt. That's pretty darn good, and only 1% fewer than last year, when the Volt topped the survey as well. I don't get the attraction, but this has to be good for GM's public perception amongst the misguided.

This evening at a event in Detroit, Chevrolet unveiled the second-generation Cruze. The new Cruze looks like a shrunken-down version of the Malibu with similar profiles. There is a reason to this as Cruze was styled only a few feet away from the new Malibu. The Cruze features such details as a lower front end, mesh grilles, and distinctive character lines. Chevrolet is hard at work on getting the Bolt EV from the concept we first saw at the Detroit Auto Show to go into production for 2017. Yesterday saw the first spy shots of the Bolt's interior come into focus. I have a neighbor who over the years has had a lot of fun cars like a 96 Impala SS, 66 Chevelle, SS Nova etc. Back in 1981 he ordered a new Camaro coupe with only options being V8, Posi, spoiler and AM FM radio. If it weren't for focus groups, the design of the 2018 Chevrolet Equinox could have looked so much different. Speaking to Automotive News, chief engineer of the 2018 Equinox Mark Cieslak revealed that focus groups weren't not impressed with the first designs of the redesigned model. First was the Volt missing it's goal of 10,000 vehicles sold last year (only sold 7,671 vehicles) due to the plant being shut down back in the summer. Then there was the whole NHTSA investigation into Volt's battery, which was closed last week. Now there's another roadblock for the Volt. Its going to be a crossover that slots between the Equinox and Traverse. *Blank looks from the crowd* I'm sure there are some that were hoping that the Blazer nameplate would return on something similar to body-on-frame Trailblazer/Blazer sold in various parts of the world. Chevrolet Cruze has been delayed General Motors Co. has decided to push back by about three months the launch of a critical new small car for its Chevrolet brand, a spokesman said. The auto maker had been aiming to launch the Chevrolet Cruze next April, but the company is pushing the launch back until at least July. GM spokesman Klaus-Peter Martin said the move is "to ensure a flawless launch" and make sure the Cruze debuts with an array of available options, including a variety of fuel-efficient engines.

Do I have any hope at all of expecting a decent Chevy mini next time I'm in the market? I understand Lambda is supposed to brng a new van with it, but I've not heard anything about what it will be like. Chevy abandoned vans when the original Venture arrived and the uplander combines ugly with out of date in such a wonderful way . My current van, a '96 Villager is showing its age and functions as a second vehicle. I would like to get a new mini in a couple of years to replace my car, kids are getting big and all, and would like to move back to Chevy again. So does anyone have any info on features on this proposed van?
