We did another fall foliage drive today, out to Breckenridge going the back way and then over to Vail and then back to Denver with a side trip up to Berthoud Pass.. great weather and scenery, and saw some interesting cars along the way..it was a nice, relaxing 250 mile drive. In a fenced-in lot by a garage in Englewood, we saw a couple of sad '59 GMs--a pale green Pontiac wagon that had hit something hard on the left front, and a black flat-top Olds 4dr..both were rusty and looked like they had been there a long time.. At a gas station outside Conifer, saw a white '56 Packard 4dr. Saw a nice red '67 Camaro SS in Fairplay...saw a tired primered gray '67 Cougar in Emp…

A fitness thread... Anyways I know that many of our members who are active on the forum are also some fitness freaks...and I should also consult a doctor on what I should do/go to reddit, but I realized that this place is much better in terms of the variety of folk we have here. So guys right now I am a size 34 waist on my pants & shorts. I'd like to be able to fit in my size 28-30 pants like I could just 15 months ago... I went out for a light jogging/walk the other day. Now I haven't done any kind of jogging/running for a long time...maybe like 6 months. The day before yesterday was when I did my jog. I would do intervals. I realized like I fe…

Nude model or groping victim? The Economist THE Transportation Security Administration, America's second-most loathed bureaucracy, has used its stimulus bucks to stock up on fancy ritual-humiliation scanners that electronically disrobe air-travellers. TSA officers are exceedingly unlikely to detect terrorist tools thereby, but they can always wince and titter at their victims' corpulence or unimpressive primary and secondary sexual characteristics. And if you are unwilling to surrender your dignity to a low-level security-state functionary in this way, you always have the option to surrender your dignity to a low-level security-state functionary in an "enhanced pat-down…

Alright alcoholics, booze hounds, bums, winos and frat boys, we need an alcohol thread, it just seems like the perfect compliment to our sex thread. I'll start: The $3 bottles of wine they sell at Wal-Mart suck majorly. So whats your drink of choice? What do you avoid like the plague?

Yeah, screw teasers. Here's the whole Jeep. Here's the shakedown: This is a 1991 Jeep Cherokee Laredo with four-wheel drive (no, it doesn't smell like a steak and it can't seat thirty-five). It's green. Some of the clearcoat has faded and some of the paint is oxidized. It has the good old 4.0L AMC inline six with 190 horses since this was the first year for the Chrysler-sourced fuel system (thank GOD it isn't a Renix-equipped XJ). It has 216,000 miles, so it's just finally broken in. I found this Heep on Craigslist for a whopping $850. Someone pawned it off, and judging from the massive stack of papers that I found in the horrifically disgusting glovebox, I'd say tha…

Yup, it's August... the "dog days" of summer. What have you seen out on the roads? This afternoon on the way home from a BBQ at my bro's house, I stopped at his local Chevy/Buick/Pontiac store. Aside from the really cool Stryker Blue '09 G8 GT they had, they also had 3 '09 Delta cars, two Cobalts and a G5... the Pontiac in Silver Green, a color I've been wanting to see for months. I feared there'd be too much blue in it, making it a sort of sickly teal color, but my fears were unfounded, imo. It's a goodlooking color, imo, and dark enough to show off the chrome exterior trim package that's available on Cobalts. For the last few weeks, I've been thinking an '09 Cob…

What is, in your opinion, one of the worst cars from the Eighties era? For me, it's the Renault Fuego. Rather looked much like a bloated pig and tended to sound like one too after a few years age. Gotta love it when someone makes a five minute video tribute to their car that becomes utterly redundant after fifteen seconds.

OK.....so I've had some more wine.....so time for my next thread.....LOL So my boyfriend Joe has decided to move down here and move in with me. He lives in Santa Rosa, about 45mins north of San Francisco. We met in early November (online) and he came down on 11-16-07 for his first visit. Since then, he's been down here like 5-6 times. It hasn't been that long.....but..... .....every time we are together, I'm the happiest man alive....and he is too. The last time I moved in with my BF (the "ex") it ended up in disaster for me....emotionally and financially. The topic of this post is exactly what the topic says, whats your next whip going to be? I bought an 06 malibu SS sedan in may this year and have enjoyed it thus far but Im ready to make the jump to entry luxury next time around. I just finished paying off my loan on the By so I plan on keeping it till summer-fall 08 and then I want to get a loaded 3.6 DI next generation CTS. I considered getting a CTS this past summer but decided that I didnt want to spend that much on a car that is this lat in its product cycle and has been overshadowed recently by the new imports. Go ahead pick you favorite one or two cars. Try not to select more than three! Keep in mind my needs, has to have a nice size trunk, good performance (think like my SLE, good), can be driven for fun on the weekends and also driven to school/work by my son or I during the week, should be a good car with few expensive repairs, oh and it must be GM. If it isn't on the list it isn't being considered! 2008-2009 Cobalt XFE Coupe... I really like the fuel economy and the fact that it has a nice trunk and is a 5spd is a bonus. If I got one I would wish I had a G5 anyways. 2008-2009 G5 XFE... Same as the Cobalt but way better looking. 2001-2002 Grand Prix GT Coupe... A…

So as some of you now know, and most probably do not, I have moved recently. I now live right at the intersection of Rt.3 & I-495 just outside of Lowell Mass. It's been a nerve wracking experience and I'm glad it's over. Now Sofia has more room to play and a much nicer back yard and the Super 88 & Datsun have semi- indoor storage. The Super will soon enough be sleeping in a barn when not driven. The only bad news is that we're renting again and didn't buy a house, but all good things come to those who wait. Now on with the show: I went to a car show again today with the Super 88. Kimbal's Ice Cream & Miniature Golf in Westford, MA. Just a few minutes…

Its finally winter weather time. Its about 40 and windy after a rainy day. Tomorrows high is supposed to be 39. Going out anywhere is absolutely out of the question, cold weather puts a damper on just about everything. So we're coping the best way we know how, a fire going in the fireplace, some pizza and, soon enough, a viewing of Anchorman, because it remains the best movie ever made. Is there any better way to kick off 6 months of cabin fever?

About 24 hours from now we should have a pretty good idea who will be piloting the Titanic for the next four years. Let's all wish him well - he faces the tallest order of troubles of any new President since FDR. And, let's wish ourselves well while we are at it - it's going to be a tall order for us as well. I'll post out our CR-V issues in another thread, but suffice it to say that we have very good reason to start looking elsewhere soon for a CR-V replacement. His requirements: 1. AWD/4WD - non-negotiable 2. Best fuel economy possible 3. Heated seats (can be cloth) 4. cannot be too large, the Equinox is about the biggest he would got 5. low price 6. body style doesn't matter My requirements: 1. Prefer an American brand but not stuck on that for the right car. Right now, I'm thinking we look at the new Compass and the Kazashi.

I have all but decided that I will not settle for close anymore, either they build exactly what I want, or I will buy used cars I actually like. I will not compromise. Although I like the new Camaro, it just isn't me. I don't want to be part of such a large crowd. I'll stick to reasonably sized cars.

FOR THE UPDATE AND GOODIES CLICK THE LINK! 1st UPDATE w/BROCHURES 2nd UPDATE w/ARTICLE and REAL LIFE LARGE PHOTOS 2011 Chevrolet Caprice PPV photoshop based off the 2009 Caprice SS for sale in the Middle East. I don't think it will come as a suprise to any of you that I am love with the new Caprice PPV. It looks like an Impala, goes like hell, can haul a trunk full stuff (around 20 cubic feet) and has a huge backseat. Then I found out it only for government/law enforcement, and got all bummed out because it would be a great replacement for my Impala someday. After bitching about what I can't buy, I decided today while as I was at the dealer to ask him about this issu…

I'm not going to let out too many details at the moment, but me and my dad are going to pick up a car tomorrow. I'll give you a hint: It's RWD, a GM product, has a vinyl top, and is older than I am. I'll fill in the rest once it's in our possession. I'm anxious to drive this beastalicious piece of machinery. --------------------- What it is, info about it, and pics in post 14/15.

Ok, I know this is a GM fansite and all, but there's one thing we really need to stop. Defending GM cars JUST because they are GM's cars. I've been watching this for a while now, and use to do it myself. But after being inside of my 2001 Crapalier, I've come to a new understanding of what being a GM fan is, and now I'm going to spell it out. You CANNOT pretend that GM cars made before the 2005 MY are as good or better than their foreign counterparts. The 2004 Malibu is a POS compared to the 2004 Accord, a vehicle that was in production for, what? 2 years? Yeah. You CANNOT continue to pretend that GMs marketshare hemorrhage for the past 30 years…

This isn't some "GM Death Watch" thread. This is industry-wide. Who do you think the next brand or company will be to leave the US market? There's been serious talk about Mitsu leaving, occasional talk about VW leaving, though I haven't had that impression myself. Then of course there's the occasional clamor for axing a GM brand. Isuzu is gone (practically has been for a while, though). So, who's next to leave the US market or shut down?

Saw today a '10 V6 Camaro in gray w/ the base wheels, first I've seen like that. Had a white pinstripe down the beltline. Saw a couple personalized plates--an Infiniti Q56 (I think that's what the 3rd gen Q was called?) w/ the plate 'PAPAJHN'...thought he had a gold 2nd gen Camaro? Saw also a dark blue Acura RL w/ huge chrome bling wheels that had the plate 'GO N LO'..not really..more of 'GO N HI' with those big wheels.

It's snowing. It has been all day. A LOT. A LOT more than expected. It won't stop. It just keeps coming and coming and coming. I had a "plan" today to get up, eat and leave for Philly/Jersey/etc. before it really started and because the forecast up there was better, drier, etc. After some issues, got rolling around 9:45, it was snowing & white here but dry about 5 miles from home, hit Wawa for coffee & kept going. Got to just past Milton on Rt. 1 north (for those of you who know DE beach area), the road all of a sudden turned wet & covered in brown salt then I saw I was a few cars back from a salt truck. I thought I could escape DE without getting the G8 crud…

Last gen. Cadillac Deville Flower Car. It flew past me on Memorial Drive, too fast to even make a grab for the camera. It was black, natrually & has a rolled back toneau cover on the back that looked like a convertible top on a 1980s VW Cabriolet. Very nice clean conversion. Much less exciting, a brand new Rolls Royce on Rt. 495

I probably have a dash fetish. I analyze them to death. Love all the little details...they tended to be more interesting on cars from the past. More free spirited, not so worried about perfect ergonomics. Dashes from most car manufacturers today have a sameness to them, although there are a few out of the norm. 1930 Cadillac Madame X Coupe: This dash has some interesting shapes/details for the time. 1932 Cadillac Sport Phaeton: Beautiful details. Notice the abundance of exposed screws. I tend to like them as they suggested machine-like qualities. Today our sensiblities have changed, we are aghast at the slightest hint of assembly.

So I ran out to get some errands done. Here is what happened on the freeway and my understanding of the lanes here in Washington State. Far left lane for passing and those wanting to go a bit faster than the posted limit. Middle lane is for going at least the speed limit. Far right lane is for going speed limit or slower and exiting the freeway. I got onto the freeway, traffic moving below the posted 60 so moved over into the middle lane and ended up behind a lazy person going 10 under the speed limit. Full traffic behind and besides me in the left lane, so just stayed where I was at. The traffic in front of the person clears out so this person could speed up t…

Well, My main 26" tv in the bedroom is about 14-15 years old and runs great, but we have no TV in the living room and the wife wants one, to get the kid out of the kitchen where our cheap 20" tv is. We have NO full height wall space in the living room, but we do have a pseudo mantel above the gas fireplace in the center of the wall. There is a wall with the window sill at 60" and room for a TV or cabinet below, buit its in the corner kind of. I originally though 1000 bucks would do it, now I'm not sure. Might take 2 grand. I'd like to try to get at least 37-40" atop the fireplace. Might have to settle for 32". Could go 50" proj TV if i go below the side windows. …

So, I'm EXTREMELY stressed at work, and have been for a couple of months now. I feel as though I'm being harassed by my new principal, and being untenured, the union is too chicken $h! to do anything about it. My mom is positive I can change my sexual preference. It's just a matter of following God's words. My grandmother has been in the hospital for 2 weeks now, and it's very touch and go, although it looks like she'll get better, but she's not allowed to live on her own anymore. Men on Long Island are very frustrating. I'm tired of game-playing, and I'm sick of the lack of monogamy. I love having people tell me they want a monogamous relations…

Credit first must be given to ToniCipriani for his thread on a "Saturn Astra" trademark that GM has recently registered: http://www.cheersandgears.com/forums/index...view=getnewpost I decided to do some snooping on the site he cited and this is what I found so far: -Nissan Motors has recently registered the names "G37", "FX37", and "M37" for its Infiniti brand. This pretty much is a confirmation of the rumor of the size of Nissan's new VQ (or VQ-derived) V6 engine. Now we just have to see if the 330hp claims are also true. -Toyota Motors last summer reigstered "LX520", "LX550", "LX570" and "LX600". Obviously, they're not going to use all of these but based on the new …

One of my 16 year old sons friends, who is 17 managed to get drunk with a girl and they wound up having sex. Now she is claiming that it wasn't consensual and is calling it date rape. Son's friend "GARY" (Not his real name) has been in our home in and out for years. Pretty good kid...I can't imagine him raping a girl. I don't really know what happened, but "Gary" is 20 days away from being 18 and is probably going to be tried as an adult. The judge he is going in front of is female and seems to by all accounts have a whole lot more symapthy for the girl than for "Gary." Being 18 and being in jail with a sex offense on your record is a lousy way to start life. Suc…

I'm thinking that it will be at least a few more years before GM builds anything that I just can't resist. So, after I clear the decks and unload my current fleet of projects, I'm guessing that I'll go after at least one more "fun" car of recent vintage before a new one is likely. The thing is, I have no idea what it will be. I'm not talking about a classic or project car - just something fairly new and low-mileage that I will enjoy driving when I don't have to drive the truck. Another GTO might work, but I'm not married to that idea. So what do you think would make me grin from the used market in about a year and a half from now?
