The Lounge
While the Lounge is for members only, there are two key points we wish to have our members abide by:
1) Please use office talk. Talk that you would not use around the office, or infront of your boss for that matter, please do not use here on C&G
2) No political talk. There are plenty of forums on the 'net for that. Lets keep C&G free of political talk.

I've been wanting to start a joke thread, mainly so I can get some really good jokes to use when needed. I'd say to keep this thread clean, as there's the R-rated section for those kinds of jokes - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - A gas station owner puts up a sign saying FREE SEX WITH FILL-UP. I simply CAN'T believe I'm the first one to throw this up on The Lounge..... I friggin' love her.......sometimes I can't pin my finger on why I do......but I see some surprising strength in the way she carries herself, in the way she speaks (scripted or not)....and I see strength in the many things she has accomplished as Governor of Alaska. (I'll admit I had to do my own research on her to know much....) In addition, she seems like a "normal" working woman with a "normal" family. And, she has charm a-plenty, I think......VERY un-Hillary-like.......(and I'm somewhat of a Hillary fan, believe it or not....) I think Obama has been knocked off kilter quite a bit by …

Hey everyone. At kinda the mid point of teh auto show season I was wondering if anyone made any revisions to their plans for near future (or more distant for that matter) car purchases. I had said I wanted to get the new CTS this coming fall. Well, scratch that. I love the new CTS. I think its great. But While I could easily afford a lightly optioned one with the base 3.6 at around 35k there is now way I can save up the money to buy a loaded 3.6 DI like I want without taking on payments which is a big no no for me as Ill be heading back to school full time next fall. The Pontiac G8 was made for me it seams. Loaded it will likley come in at less than 35k. IT…

Add on whatever you like... I'll begin here... I don't much care for....Overhaulin doing brand new cars that are already performance oriented. First a Mustang, now a Magnum? If you're gonna do a brand new car, try something that ain't packing much in the balls department....like, I don't know, a Cobalt LS or something.

Just a place to swap stories about our vaccine experiences. I got the Moderna shot on Jan 11th. Other than a sore arm for a few days (same thing I get with a flu shot) I had no side effects. I got my second shot on Feb 11th at 6pm. The next morning I woke up feeling feverish with body aches and chills. I took Advil and drank Gatorade and felt blah all day. In the evening I had to pick up a curbside grocery order, I didn’t feel well but I went anyway. On the way back I really felt awful and almost pulled over to make Albert drive back. I made it home and went right back to bed. I had fevers during the night for the next few nights. I didn’t start feeling no…

ok, this is not meant to be an X-rated thread. but who do y'all think is a hot or handsome star that you wouldn't mind inspecting up close? If you had one (or two) chances to be up close and personal with a star, who would it be? C&G is always about equal time, so there is no limit as to whether its the strappin' men or the hot ladies. C'mon, who do you think is SMOKIN? I confess, I can't stop at one, so everyone else chip in too. What started this idea for me.....I saw a movie today with Claire Danes in it. I've always thought she was like WAY HOT. Damn she is fine. I would love to feed her grapes and watch the fan blow cool air all over her while we list…

It's finally come around, not just that I've pondered doing it, but that I'm selling the Fleetwood and moving on to something newer, much smaller, more efficient, etc. For the longest time (and to keep the finances smiling), the idea was something new but used (and quite a bit so) that fulfilled the smaller and more economical but that could be another cash purchase. Think late 90's Accord, and you'll have gotten the drift. Then that went, well, sort of to the side. I graduated college and while not yet making huge money yet or in a dream job, I'm working with a great company at home for the time being and am making a nice chunk. I love the Fleetwood dearly and it …

Wrong on immigration Lexington MUCH as I admire his prose style, George Will is horribly wrong this morning. Of Arizona's atrocious new law that allows the state police to arrest anyone they suspect of being an illegal immigrant, he says: Arizona's law might give the nation information about whether judicious enforcement discourages illegality. If so, it is a worthwhile experiment in federalism. On the contrary, empowering the police to stop and demand papers from anyone who looks vaguely Mexican will make life unpleasant for Hispanics while wasting time that officers could more usefully spend pursuing real criminals. More generally, I find the "let's secure the…

...a new car and some odds & ends for it. Gosh I'm good at having all new plans when I haven't even figured out the current Not locked in stone yet, but from a few cryptic notes I've made, my G8 that's seeing more and more miles soon will have a friend if all clicks through. Can't say what yet, but familiar. And, well, essentially new. "It" currently lives in Bethlehem, PA with a retired guy I met over the summer up there & all my travels. To that extent, and because this was spurred by a deal of the millennium I never expected & had to jump on, planning still to move to the Philly/NE area as soon as possible, and just not having room, etc. where I live now…

So....if you are straight....have you ever felt an attraction to another guy? Doesn't HAVE to be sexual....can be a strong emotional attraction....or sexual...whatever. Have you ever wondered what it would be like to "be with" a guy? And if you are gay.....have you ever had the same feelings for a woman? When I was in high school, before I came to terms with being gay, I had a girlfriend. Now we never had sex because she was absolutely sure she wanted to remain a virgin until she was married. We dated, went out, and the most we "did" was kiss goodnight at the end of the evening. Funny thing is....I never desired having sex with her.....mostly (unknown to me at th…

We Californians get a lot of not so friendly ribbing around here; so here are some jokes to calm you all down. Enjoy Californians So as not to be outdone by all the redneck, hillbilly, and Texan jokes, you know you're from California if: 1. Your coworker has 8 body piercings and none are visible. 2. You make over $100,000 and still can't afford a house. 3. You take a bus and are shocked at two people carrying on a conversation in English. 4. Your child's 3rd-grade teacher has purple hair, a nose ring, and is named Flower. 5. You can't remember . . is pot illegal? 6. You! 've been to a baby shower that has two mothers and a sperm donor. 7. You …

I'd give my left arm for a Toyota Camry...actually...just take my left arm, you can keep the car. I've learned many things. Most importantly, I've learned that I can start a hilarious meme that takes up multiple pages in a thread, then gets its own thread, currently at four pages, and likely to grow. I also learned that my fiancee can tell I haven't shaved by talking to me on the phone. 'Twas either a very good guess, or she could hear my facial foliage brushing against the phone. Finally, I learned that if I need clean boxers, they're on the back of the sofa.

I'd like to think I speak "standard broadcast English" (no accent, clean pronunciation) so certain expressions bug me: Low end: Irregardless - actually, it's now an accepted word, though it shouldn't be Mid-range: He or she (singular) is "good people" - that is asinine Drum roll: Across pronounced "acrost." Where the f*** is there a "t" at the end? I never heard this in So Cal but I have heard it in Nor Cal and the Pac NW. I am wondering if it is an importation from the Donner Party days when people from the interior were migrating out West and it was handed down through the generations. Any expressions or word construction that bug you?

This is the Official Chat Thread. Here, we should be able to plan Chat Nights and such or let fellow members when you are or will be in the Chat Room. I figure this would be a good idea to hopefully bring some life to the usually boring Chat Room. Also to maybe bring the time that which everyone shows up down a bit. Staying up past midnight because that's when it's most active is getting old. Anyways, sticky please? I assume this is more important than the index of Camino's old rides... Well I can't tell you the last time I've been to an American Mall, but my daughter wanted to go so we all went. I definitely have come to the conclusion that Americans are the fattest people on the face of the earth. People should not wear jeans when they are as wide as they are tall ... And wearing sweatpants just screams "I've Given UP"! What I experienced tonight was the most bizarre sights and smells I've have seen in a long long time ... My eyes, my eyes ...

Water Seeps Into Vault Holding Buried Car KOTV - 6/13/2007 11:13 AM - Updated 6/13/2007 3:46 PM TULSA, Okla. (AP) _ Workers unearthing the 1957 Plymouth Belvedere buried under the city's courthouse lawn were dealt an early setback Wednesday, as several feet of water were found in the concrete vault supposedly strong enough to withstand a nuclear attack. The two-door hardtop, buried in 1957 to celebrate Oklahoma's 50 years of statehood, is set to be lifted out of the 12-foot-by-20-foot time capsule Friday morning to commemorate the state's centennial year. As many as 50,000 people from all over the world are expected at the event, and more than 260 media credentials h…

This struck me as random and funny. Today, a really old guy (80/90ish) in my neighborhood told me my car looked "smooth as a toilet seat." I had no response to that. Awhile ago, my girlfriend drove my car and said because the overhangs are pretty large compared to her car, that my car "is a big titty and big booty car." Yeah. Anything to add?

lol funny title. Anyway, the Camaro's gas gauge has its head up its ass. Went out of town, filled it up to a half-tank. It was about a 100 mile trip there and back. My car will go for 400 miles on a full-tank, which a full Camaro gas tank holds 15.5 gallons. That equals up to around 25 mpg in mixed conditions. That's about average gas mileage for a V6 Camaro with a 5-speed. So if this is true, my car could have made this trip on about 1/4 of a tank, right? I've done it before, so it did it again, right? No. Apparently, it took the whole damn half-tank to do it. It also somehow managed to go about 50 miles reading flat empty. So today, I put five bucks in it. It obvi…

Maybe it's just be, although I know it isn't, but I am getting sick and tried of more and more ads and packaging being in Spanish. At first it was English on top with smaller Spanish below it, then Spanish got bigger until it was the same size, and recently I've seen ads only in Spanish. That really Pisses me off. The first example of this was a several months ago where there were small promotional ads in a store in the soda section that had to do with Pirate of the Caribbean and Coca Cola. There were 4 or 5 of these ads spread throughout the isle and every one of them was in Spanish. Today while browsing Autoblog Sprint just showed a cell phone ad that was exclusiv…

I am fearing our 3rd car, a Taurus wagon, has transaxle issues, as a filter/fluid change today did not remedy shifting issues it intermittently has. Trans has no adjustment capabilities; it was suggested that a cracked filter may suck air; old filter showed no signs (it's plastic, floating in a sea of liquid- how's it going to crack?)… but pan gasket was fairly weepy anyway. It's a '95, bought it cheap a year & a half ago (from a friend) with 70K on it, now has 86K. Not worth rebuilding the transaxle. Not worth it as a 'local only' car, either. Haven't yet determined a budget, but would like to get something with actual cargo space. I know that's not easy to …

I'm currently in a situation where I've found someone I feel is the absolute ideal for me, and he looks at me as just a good friend. I'm head over heels for him--I think he's the greatest guy I've ever met... again, he sees me just as a good friend. Ever been in this situation? Has anyone ever had the situation turn out good where the other person actually started liking them romantically one day? Or has it just turned out to be a lot of heart-ache?

I'm finally starting to believe I'm meant to have bad luck with cars. The Buick starting making a nasty, unprovoked knocking today that has me a bit confused because I can't quite pinpoint where the sound is coming from. One on hand, it sounds like the flywheel or torque converter could going bad when you start it up, but say when you raise the hood to give it a good listen, it sounds like it could be a loose timing chain. God help me if it turns out to be a rod. I'll get rid of it.

Similar like Word Association, but here is how its played. Ill start off with one word, the next person has to come up with two things that relate to that word, then the third person has to pic one of the previous persons words and come up with 2 words that relate to that and so on and so on. Example: Charger4U: Cylinder WPBHarry: Piston, Engine (make the relation) WPBHarriet: Engine (the word he/she picked to relate to) Hemi, Northstar Charger4U: Hemi (the word i picked to relate to) Charger, Ram. Get it? its not as complicated as it may sound once we get started. The starting word is Chevrolet

Here are a few quick and easy recipes that not only are cheap, but definitely NOT unhealthy! "Chicken Rice" Difficulty: easy Combine can of Campbell's Cream of Chicken soup in a pot with some rice. Cook until rice is finished. Stir pretty frequently to keep it from burning as it is a very dry recipe. Very tasty! You can add curry and pepper to it if you want. --- Cucumber salad Difficulty: easy Finely chop 3 cucumbers. Combine 1.5 tsp sugar, a fair amount of rice vinegar (3/4 cup or so), Kikoman Tempura Dipping Sauce to taste and 1 tbl water in a small bowl. Mix. Add cucumbers to bowl. You may also add shredded carrots if you choose. Hand toss and let marina…

• We bought our '11 Jeep Liberty in Feb of 2016, with 53K miles. Not a single problem to date, not a fancy vehicle, but everyone here likes driving it fine. Now has 80K. Going to keep it, my one son is it's regular driver. • Wife's 2009 Malibu LT was bought new. Between GM card cash, sale discount (1500), and a Cash for Clunker trade (4600), the $25K sticker came down to the low $17K's. It's been a very good little sedan, a few very minor things plus the normal maintenance. Currently has 127K on it. Other than a few dings and some curb rash on the pass-side alloys, it's in good physical shape. Mechanically it could use front struts. On to this morning... checked…

Last night, I was driving home and saw some nice gas prices. I found, at a Safeway filling station, in Northern California (though not coastal), gas for $ 2.52.9 and that was prior to the 3 cent Safeway club card discount. That puts it at a hair under $2.50. That same Safeway, 6 months ago, had gone as high as $ 4.49.9. Looks like I may take a few road trips. What's happening with fuel prices in your area?

So, with some life changes coming up, I am car shopping. I'm looking in the $25k range +/- a grand. Since the number of miles could potentially swing wildly opposite of what I do now (Less than 5k a year on my own car), I'm looking at high(er) mpg options, but a lower priced car that doesn't get the best mpg but has other convincing options is on the table too. I don't really want to go any smaller than Cruze/Verano Here's what I'm looking at so far: Passat TDI/DSG/Sunroof - about $25k after current incentives Cruze Diesel - $26k Verano Leather Group + sunroof - $26k 200 V6 + sunroof and upper UConnect - $20k after current incentives (Used) 300 V6 + 8speed + UConne…

Because it's that time of the month... or year, rather. One of those times is probably a better way to put it. It's something I frequently go though. To put it simply, I'm never satisfied; always looking for something refreshing and new (to me). It's essentially a flavor of the month affair, but in an automotive sense. If you were unable to grasp where I'm heading with this, I'll spell it out for you. I'm looking for another car, and rather seriously, at that. While I've found joy in my current vehicles, I find myself aspiring to greater offerings. One thing has always rang true and that is my love for amenities. Between my last few vehicles, I've constantly bemoaned the …

Since the other two political threads were turning into nonsense, I decided to start one to discuss the second debate and see if we can't have a better discussion than the other two threads... So, feel free to discuss your thoughts on the second debate here.

Well, 4 dollar gas is here. Funny part about that is I've seen prices range from 3.85 to 4.45 here. Just wow... With so many reasons to raise oil prices this summer, anybody want to guess the price at the of the summer? Winner gets bragging rights.... Should be an interesting summer....

Is this REALLY what everyone is so excited about? Is this REALLY 'markedly' better than the domestics?!?! LOL... What a scam!!! I mean, I know the Corolla is no star and it certainly isn't top of the class. But people buy them in DROVES only to think that they're somehow a superior offering to GM/Ford/Chrysler. I guess perception really is everything. The entire car screamed *CHEAP!!!* to me... I mean, talk about a sea of hard, mismatched plastics! Even the design and layout looked like something out of Fisher-Price. Gawdy buttons and Rubbermaid controls... A sea of gray on light gray with little or horrible texture. Fake woould that looked like it had been airbrush…

Yeah, we know there is a certain crowd (trailer trash, ghetto folks, poor people, hillbillies) that drives these cars into the ground....or bought them that way. But does that mean said cars are not worth the trouble to do a little something with? Not worth saving? Maybe building for a little SCCA track action, engine swapping, a clean cruiser, or even a kit car or electric/biodiesel conversion? Even if they aren't a loser's car, maybe it's simply something you often see parked with "For Sale $1000" written on the window in white shoe polish. Rules: No, you can't name off muscle cars, pony cars, or anything from 1969 or older. No Z's, RX-7s, Supras and such eithe…

It's over. I can't support such a company any longer. Because of that, I cannot remain a part of the staff of C&G. I value the friends I have made here, and I don't intend to disappear completely, but this site has always been about the future of GM - and I no longer believe it has one. So, as of tomorrow, I hope to be just a regular member here. I will stop by now and then, read a bit, post about old cars, and be on my way again. To do otherwise would be dishonest.

Rather than have a new one of these every month, lets just all pile into this one thread and keep it going. I'll start with a recent RARE spot I made here in Pittsburgh that has gotten super popular on CheersandGears's Facebook Page. I spotted this super rare Saab 9-4x running around Pittsburgh the other day. Built off the same Theta-Premium platform as the 2nd Generation Cadillac SRX, this one seems to be used as a daily driver. It was built in Mexico, and only 814 copies were ever made.

This has always been of interest to me. Of course Detroit and Flint are the famous ones, but scattered throughout the Midwest and Great Lakes states are smaller cities that were once heavy on industry and now empty shells. Some places like the Quad Cities, St. Louis, and Cleveland are making a comeback, while others like the ones listed below continue to deteriorate. Gary, Indiana - founded in 1906 by US Steel Corporation, it was Indiana's 2nd largest city until changing demographics, steel layoffs, and rising crime sent almost half of the population packing. Today it has just under 100,000 people. Gary in the early 60's --------- East St. Louis, Illino…

Well, the Clunker Program is in full swing, and I have to tell you: It makes me sick. This is the STUPIDEST thing I think the government has ever wasted our money on, and really decent cars are going to be scrapped because of it. Further, I really think if the government had half a brain, they would have demanded that the trade ins could only be made on a domestic owned lot - Ford - GM - Chrysler - so that the money came back home, not further increase the trade deficits. So, get out there, cruise the back lots and tell me what you find. I will start off with a really nice '99 Wrangler YJ 6 cylinder 5 speed hard top - no rot, great shape...needed a bath...will never…

I think the other one obviously crossed a line (my apologies) and it was best to wipe it from exisstance and start over. So with that in mind, the rules are no crossing that line, and no car related stuff. There's already a thread for that. Let's try this again:

Well, it will certainly be a shortened edition due to the downtime of the site, but I thought we should have one anyways. I haven't seen much new stuff recently, but I did see a Subaru B9 Tribeca yesterday. The local dealer also got in a Colorado Xtreme which looked pretty cool.

A plane is standing on a runway that can move (like a giant conveyor belt). This conveyor has a control system that tracks the plane's wheel speed and tunes the speed of the conveyor to be exactly the same (but in the opposite direction). Will the plane be able to take off?

First off, I just mentioned this car in another thread, but I thought what the heck, why not post some of my favorite lesser known hardtops. Not the typical, well known '57 Bel Airs, '59 Cadillacs & '70 Challengers, (I love those too) but the weird, off the beaten path stuff you might not have EVER seen before, or perhaps you saw one but it was 7 years ago at a car show. Here goes: 1.) 1965 to 1968 BMW 2000cs Be still my heart! The later 1970s cs/csl coupes were quite beautiful as well. 2.) Going even FURTHER back in time: 1962 - 1965 BMW 3200cs A compact, slick looking car that had a V8, four on the floor, two door …

I figured that with all the bickering around here, we should have a good thread about each other too. Name all those you respect MOST around here. Remember, if you're not listed, it's not because we don't like you.. but you're just not the MOST respected out there. First and foremost, ocnblu, aka oblu. He's always been there to add the "father" tone for me around here and always has my back. He can turn a bad thread good and a worse thread raunchy. Ocnblu, this one's for you. blackviper. Cory. You're 17 (right?) and growing up in a setting where you're very binded up and not able to function to your fullest because of it. For this, and getting through it (and by keep…

Ok, so I've been wanting an old wagon or van for a while now, because it would make biking, kayaking, and randomly moving stuff easier. Well, I found one, again, a Lesabre Estate, not sure of the year (early 80's) but it runs and they want $650 for it. Here's the hitch, my fiancee says I can buy it on two conditions. The first is easy, I just need to clean the garage so we have someplace to put it. Second is a bit tricky, I have to buy it with straight cash and cant deplete the bank account. We just put a deposit down on our vacation this coming winter, so cash is stretched thin for a couple weeks. So I'm in a tricky situation. Cant borrow money for it, cant raid t…

Kinda appropriate to call it a countdown since 24 premiered in syndication this weekend across America. In any case, all I really remember is a nice lowered Intrepid on fins, a 90s Cutlass Supreme sedan on some sort of big dubs (yes, both cars looked quite nice), and a advertising shrink wrap equipped Pacifica (from far away, I thought it was an SRX)

OK, I'm going to open up a big can of worms, but hey it's part of my charm, plus I have a big can opener. :AH-HA_wink: Would you support GM moving it's Global Headquarters to another region and out of North America, say to either GM Eruope's headquarters or GM Asia-Pacific's headquarters, this would help in taking away GM's stigma of being an American auto maker and truly make it a global company. This would be something akin to what Oldsmobile did, when it didn't put Oldsmobile on it's products. GM would be saying we are a Global company, by taking GM out of North America, so to speak. So what are your thoughts on it, would you support such a move?

I left out hyundai, and other Korean makes, as this is too obvious of a choice. To me, the current winner of choice is any older honda. Being a Landlord it becomes obvious real quick that those out of the know choose honda. For people worried about political correctness - WT means people who seem to think it's ok to go out in public without a shower, those who's homes are usually full of drugs, those who use public assistance for food but have the money to purchase cigarettes and beer, etc., etc. The color of their skin or heritage is irrelevant.
